Broadhead bid 19:25 - Jul 29 with 9490 viewsfloridaboy

Wrexham have offered £7 million for Broadhead according to reports from the Wrexham papers.

Can see it happening especially as his game time seems limited!

Would £7 million be enough to tempt the club to sell?

It would be a shame, but that's a mighty tempting offer for a player with one year left on his cotract, who also comes with a less than great history of injuries.

I like Broady A LOT. He sees things others don’t, has beautiful footwork.

But he’s streaky and doesn’t seem able to hold form for months at a time. like Chappers he has a habit of drifting out of games and th8ngs pass him by. Where we want to go we really need more than that now.

So I’d push for £8m and take it. I’ll watch this one with interest and see if KM agrees with me!

At that price you'll get exactly 0 GBP in a years time if it's correct that he only has one year left on his contract.

oh no only 1 year left, we keep letting these run down. yeah i reckon nearer 7-8m then. Offer him a new deal pronto.

Philogene has been proven in this league, he was arguably the best winger in the division the year we went up when he was playing on the left for Hull.

Clarke was rated 2nd & 3rd among all players in all positions in the league that year, on the two big footy analysis sites. Philogene was rated 4th & 5th, Broadhead 51st & 87th (out of around 350 players).

He did nothing against us. Much prefer broadhead.

Thought it was fairly clear I was being a bit flippant on purpose, though I appreciate people get a bit touchy when it comes to "Broady".

Not touchy at all was just told in no world would get that kind of money about 24 hours ago my multiple people, so it's hard to know on here.

I think £7m is good money for a player with one year left, who is a squad player and is not expected to start many games.
Plus. Look at it from Broady's point of view. He is at an age where he should be playing week in week out.
If he wants to go then let him with our best wishes and thanks.

Different type of player, for the fee we paid for Philogene though, you'd hope he would tear this league up to a degree and become a PL talent.

Time will tell.

He’s here at the game in Colchester. Must’ve played in the earlier game.

You base all your opinions on how a player in a weaker team does against a stronger team in a one off match?

That's clearly ridiculous.

He also played pretty well against us from memory and caused us problems cutting in.

Brilliant deal all round. He gets to be number one somewhere (when fit) and we get him off the books finally after the last deal fell through on deadline day.

Even at £7m I’d much rather we didn’t sell him.

If Broadhead is happy to stay and fight for a place then I’d much rather we kept him. It’s not as if we need the money.

If the lad wants guaranteed game time, I’m not sure we can give him anything near that assurance, and so if he wants to move then I would say £7m is a decent price for a championship player with just one year left on his contract. Would rather it was to someone like Stoke or Derby rather than a team that are quite likely to be challenging us in the top 6 this season.

I don't think we are in a position yet where we can say we don't need the money and can let a squad player run down their contract and lose out on 7m.

He's excellent but in reality his minutes are likely to be far fewer than last time we were in this division.

So you're offering him a new contract then based on current market value in terms of wages, even when you have (rightly or wrongly) invested 35M+ at the same position he plays?

I like him as well but that wasn't really going to happen.

He was literally going to be left unregistered between September and January last season had our deal for Reiss Nelson went through on deadline day.

Think that pretty much sums up where it’s at.

£7m feels very punchy when you consider he's only got a year left on his contract. I love him, great player to watch on his day, but as a result of injury proneness and streaky form, those days haven't always come often. We've got Clarke and Philogene likely ahead of him in the pecking order, we can basically cover the Matusiwa fee with this sale. Sad as I'll be to see him go, it's a no brainer.

He also played 18 times and scored twice. When he was fit he came in done quite well but agree we should sell.

If we can keep Hutchinson, then yes, I think we should push for something like 8-9m and move him on.

We don't want to lose too much of the DNA that made us successful in such a short period of time. That's the biggest concern I have, as a well liked player such as Nathan Broadhead's influence and history at the club extends beyond the pitch and into the dressing room.

For me it all comes down to whether or McK sees him here next year, promotion or not. If he doesn't, £7m is an exceptional deal for us.

Arguably our best attacker behind the striker, knows the league, knows our system. We aren’t going to replace him for £7m either given the current market, keep him here and tie him down to a new contract. Big game player.

I like him because he offers a genuinely different option. Clarke, Philogene, Ogbene, Omari and even Szmodics to an extent are all essentially the same offering.

Broadhead brings balance to a team stacked with inverted wide players who offer little aerial or physical presence and flair creators. Less flashy, more end product.

He also doesn't need to have 20 touches before playing the ball.

And Szmodics if necessary

And Al Hamadi if necessary.

And Humphreys if necessary.

And Leif Davis, with Townsend behind, if necessary against a Premier League team in the FA Cup Semi Final!

DO NOT SELL BROADY

Will be devastated if this happens. Best technical player at club. Magic feet.

I would keep him if he’s happy to stay. He’s an excellent player, especially at Championship level. Good feet, skilful, knows where the goal is and finds positions to hurt the opposition.

However, I don’t think he’s strong enough for the Premier League from what I saw last year, so if the club is serious about building for that level, I can see him going if the fee is right.

I get what you mean but I don’t think it’s ridiculous. Surely how a player performs against you if you are a good side can show you something that would interest you and think they would be good for us.
