Wasn’t Will Still from the numbers school? I’m fed up of certain organizations and clubs in sports across the spectrum that don’t stop banging on about data & analytics as the decision making for everything.

Data ignores context. If this player is doing it in league x and against said opposition it won’t always translate in a different league, with different players, playing a different standard of football etc. I suspect that’s been Norwich’s downfall.
Same with NFL drafting, it’s annoying to me.

Yep.
Changing a manager is such an upheaval and doesn’t always have the desired effect. Of course if it it absolutely needed it needs to be done but not after a loss here and there!  |
It helps to have made a good choice in the first place but hierarchies seem to lack awareness that every sacking is effectively them saying they got their recruitment wrong in the first place. |  |

Do Saints have a good squad though? Remember that stat which was floating around here about us after the Charlton defeat, 7 wins in 48 games. Well Southampton currently have 4 wins from their last 51 matches. The risk of a hangover going into this season was always going to be a strong one.

McKenna was a risky, left field appointment & when he got the Town job, most of us said "WHO?"
But that turned out all right. Yes, Still was a risky appointment, although he had experience at 4 clubs in Europe. He's had a shocking start at Southampton & they will be desperate to bounce back to the PL. Will they now go for the tried & trusted EPL journeyman type?
If McKenna had left in the summer & our new man had us in 4th bottom place, many of us would be clamouring for his removal. |  |

Were they his staff that came with him? R5 were saying on Saturday that one of the challenges he had was he didn't have his own team so he was having to sell his ideas to the coaching staff and then the players. That sounds like a tough gig to me. | |

The merry-go-round goes on. If we look at ourselves and how successful the club has been over the years we will no doubt deduce that despite having had a few fantastic managers in Sir Alf, Sir Bobby , George Burley and now Kieran McKenna it can also be said we have had quite a few who to be polite have been less than satisfactory,
The success or lack of it cannot always be blamed on the manager although it's his responsibility to motivate the team, pick the team and suggest who the club recruits.
But then he is also restricted by what the owner will allow him to purchase and as we saw with ME the first few managers were given adequate funds, but as time went on the funds got less and less and yet these people still expects a manager to deliver.
So it's not always the manager who is at fault and sometimes players aren't always putting it all in for certain managers. | | | |

It shows how things can get messy, very quickly.
Given our slow start. I think we've done well to stop any real rot setting in and find our feet again.
Not an expert on their squad. But, I'd assume that (on paper), they've got enough in there to be threatening play offs , at least. Especially looking at who is up there atm.
They could probably do with a motivator type manager. Rather than a young, trendy, technician type, imo.
