Idea for a full house on Saturday 22:05 - Apr 28 with 7892 viewsJ2BLUE

Edit: Edited thread title just in case that Facebook Reform supporter post is based on them getting the wrong end of the stick about this thread. I don't want to

Not looking to goad anyone who is or mock anyone who is planning to go after not going to previous games. I'm going somewhere with this (and no, not after your ticket!).

Edit: Idea further down if anyone wanted to see it.

Anyone still planning to boycott Saturday? on 15:07 - Apr 29 with 855 viewsMeadowlark

Just popped on to say, there were seven of us, (I know, only seven!) in the pub in Southampton last night. Male and female, ages from thirties to seventies, season ticket holders and non, all regular away supporters. The subject came up. All of us would like to see Ashton gone.
We don't shout about it, boycott, post our thoughts on here or anywhere else for that matter. We are all very disappointed with Ashton's behaviour before and after this incident, and despise the fact that he has associated our club with such a morally absent individual.
I kinda suspect that we are not the only seven.

I think you've been harshly treated in this thread, especially as you've explained yourself several times.

However, all this would've been avoided if you'd just put your idea in the OP instead of being cryptic about it. Were you attempting to get more eyes on it with a bit more of a controversial OP?

No.

For a number of weeks now I have had this idea at the back of my mind. Believe it or not, I thought about how to bring it up. The OP was me trying to stop it turning into an inners versus outers thread. I said I am not goading and that I was going somewhere with it. I thought if I just posted the idea it would get a lot of pushback and attract those who want to argue against the people boycotting. I was trying to establish that there were enough people boycotting to make it worthwhile. I realise that went wrong…

I remember Rommers talking about ‘scenes’ when we came back to draw at Barnsley 1-1 in league one. He’s followed Town through sh1t years and I thought it was a shame he would miss what will hopefully be another special moment. Obviously I don’t agree with Bankster on much but I would like to have seen a full Portman Road for the final game. I didn’t think any Town fans deserve to miss that moment because of the actions of one man.

I nearly posted this thread a few days ago but being a simpleton I didn’t want to jinx any chance of winning against Southampton. I posted at the time I did to give maximum time before the game if anyone was interested in joining me (if those boycotting approved).

As I said, good intentions, awful presentation in hindsight. If I was trolling I would now be saying lol I got you all, you all took the bait etc which is the whole point of trolling isn’t it? Rather than saying that is not at all what I was going for. Certainly didn’t consider that the idea could be offensive if we raised several hundred for Hope Not Hate.

This will probably be my final comment on the matter. I don’t think most people are reading the thread, just the OP.

There is virtually NOTHING on X about it now and there has been no TANGIBLE proof that its really impacted the sponsors. Im sure they wont have been delighted but I would imagine that the current promotion push outweighs the "outraged of TWTD" whining that goes on.

You say "many" people, but like the others have ZERO proof on the subject.

Perhaps I havent, however I can point at the absolute silence on the subject anywhere other than on here.

Anyway, I cant recall you being that bothered previously, although I know how much you love jumping aboard bandwagons on here, to desperately try to reclaim credibility (another Frimley classic last night to add to many many more).

Can only speak for myself, but having received threats on twitter when expressing opinions on Ashton I largely now avoid the place.

I know another poster who had threats made to contact their employer.

So if you are going by opinions expressed on twitter as a fair reflection of opinion, or people having moved on, you are kidding yourself imho.

I don't think twitter/X is a fair guide, however I find it more "universal" than this place.

Add to that six of us who are season ticket holders, four of whom were there last night.
And those we meet up with in the pub at games feel the same too.

But my five friends don't post on here, all of us having written to the club about it.

I do post on here but have generally stayed out of threads like this because there seems little point, given the club will either take action or not once the season is over.

Well that's only seven people out of hundreds of thousands of Ipswich fans and unless you're willing to provide their names, addresses and ages along with their views then I'm sorry they don't count.

Unless they post on TWTD, in which case they are obsessive weirdos any way and their views don't count.

And even if it is more than seven out of the millions of Ipswich fans that I have personally audited, then they are still a minority. And as we well know, minorities should have no rights and their opinions should be ignored.

Ashton out

Disagree, I'm part of a WhatsApp group that has over 200 Town fans in it, the overwhelming majority want to see him gone but most have no desire to do things that might derail the season.

I think you're in cloud cuckoo land if you think there's a few odd bods who are anti Ashton.

Wow what a sad bunch I’m pi$$ing myself sat here , tell me your not serious….a 200 strong group out of 30000 laughable.

I feel like I’m wading into a fire fight here but Ashton being called morally abhorrent is strong.

I binned my reform leaflet at home today so am no supporter of Farage et al but I do feel that such personal attacks on individuals are pretty strong here.

A reminder that Ashton was a champion for bringing back some vital community connections with the club and has done a lot of good things, probably more behind the scenes we don’t always know about.

What’s always divisive are politics and whilst I disagree vehemently with Trump and MAGA rhetoric from across the pond, everyone is entitled to an opinion (even if it is wrong and based on lack of understanding lol!!)

I love Ipswich and love the connection again since GC took over and Ashton rightly takes plaudits for being part of that. I think visible protests don’t help the club, they dissuade investors and stakeholders who are key to us progressing.

I would hope the club can arrange for a meaningful reconciliation between those so angered during close season and keep football and politics off the front pages.

Let’s all be nice to each other.

Good night to poke my head back on here. Great game. Thought we were excellent.

For the record, no I won’t be going and no I haven’t been since the Ashton lies came out.

I hope we win Saturday. I shall feel over the moon if we do but a tiny bit sad I’ll be missing it. Have made plans in London for the weekend with the missus instead. Fancy 5 star hotel, a show, some drinks and a nice meal. Will do that and pretend the football doesn’t exist. Then at full time check the score. Gutted to miss it but that’s the route I went down and I stick by it. The abuse received as a result of my stance (not on here I might add) and the threats I received.. to then get zero contact from anyone at the club knot pushed me further into the mindset of wanting to stay away.

I’m sure I’ll be told that makes me a wrongun etc by some so I shall bid adieu again as I wouldn’t wish to read that sh*t as it frankly got me down last time. Particularly the threat of speaking to my employment etc which were far too specific for my liking.

Uppa Towen - hopefully I shall next see you all as a PremierLeague Ipswich fan.

Good on you Rommers, it's bizarre how some people react to others taking a principled position on an issue isn’t it!
Well done for arranging a special weekend regardless of football, I was so desperate for a distraction that we decided to get married!

I don’t believe he is staying away because of Ashton tbh.

I believe young Rommers has realised being in the company of the fairer sex is more enjoyable than watching a load of millionaires kicking a ball full of air..

You really give impression you want Town to fail this weekend and then come on here all guns blazing , pathetic pal. LOOK where the team is , look where the club is as a whole.

You are very odd with your determination that taking a stand against Ashton's dishonesty, lack of integrity and general hypocrisy is "wanting Town to fail".

I have very clearly stated repeatedly that I want the club to succeed but want Ashton gone and that the success is tainted by having him still heavily involved in the club.

You are the one trying to paint that as me wanting the club to fail not me.

As I repeatedly ask you and you repeatedly refuse to comment on: are you happy for the club to have someone who uses the club to promote a racist politician as both CEO and Chairman? Would you be equally happy if he had invited Corbyn to use the club to promote his party? You go very silent when asked those questions.

EDIT: Plus "pathetic, pal" - I suggest you look at yourself in the mirror one day if you can stomach it.
