A couple stood next to him asking him where the Labour candidate was. And followed that by saying they'd voted Reform to ensure Labour don't get in. Feck me, we are doomed.

What I don't get is why you proclaim so much about things you seem to care so little about. It isn't unreasonable to ask why you choose to vote the way you so loudly proclaim to do. Although, as I have also pointed out, it is your absolute right that you don't have to tell us either. The fact you don't does make us wonder why though.

Walking out of the polling station to see a 80+ year old gent on 16:39 - May 7 by Swansea_Blue | It took a little while to recover from the coalition betrayal/student fees debacle, but looks like they’re finally there again based on the last GE. They normally do well in the wards on the west of Swansea with it being where a lot of the university workers live. They could be significant in the next GE as it looks like we could be heading for hung parliament territory, with any of three or four who could be big players. Still a long way to go though innit. |
Indeed. With an election 3 years away, you can easily see Farage losing interest by then or being so corrupt he has to step down as an MP. They can't spent 3 years threatening to detain everyone.

Labour are slowly sorting stuff out after a disastrous 15+ year period. NHS waiting lists are starting to come down and are now at a three year low, although obviously there’s still a long way to go. They’ve made generational improvements to workers rights which will benefit many millions of people. They’ve been making progress on devolution, shifting power out to regions and local mayors. They’re also made plenty of mistakes, have contradictory approaches that are undermining their growth agenda, and are worryingly authoritarian, yet they’ve done more for people in their time so far than we’ve had for ages. They need a lot more time to rewind the damage from the Tories, but it doesn’t look like the people with give them that time (which is a bit of a shame and will again make things worse imo, but they’re paying the price for their mistakes).

Then you have these 'Populist' Parties that spout utter nonsense, both Leaders have questionable pasts at best and both been caught out lying. The country is broken and I'm afraid to say, from what I've heard and seen, none of the parties have a credible, thought out plan or vision on how to fix things or improve things, it's all hyperbole drivel. |

You are entitled to keep your voting preference a secret. Just curious that somebody who posts on a lot of political posts has never publicly nailed their colours to the mast. Pretty much everyone on these type of threads declare their preference. But it's your prerogative not to. edit. Certainly odd to downvote somebody asking a civil question. [Post edited 7 May 19:25]

So you go for the least worse option imo, rather than lose hope or worse disengage, which only helps the fringe parties. Labour are mostly adults and even though their DNA is confused to say the least, they are starting to fix some things about this broken country and are responding well to the Trump-made problems (but nobody acknowledges their progress because that issue with their DNA - they have a knack of pissing everyone off). The Tories and Reform just promise more breaking, I’ve liked the Greens in the past (Caroline Lucas was a superb MP imo), but have some reservations about their version of populism, whether it will work in practice, and doubt they’ll get the critical mass needed anyway. Excluding national parties in the devolved regions, that leaves the Lib Dems. Despite Ed Davey’s PR stunts they are also adults and I don’t think they’d inflict incompetence and cruelty on us in the way the Tories did (and Labour in some areas of their policies). Whether they’re a viable option is another matter, but they could be the least ideologically damaging of the lot. So we do have options, albeit not ideal ones. The modern version of the populist Tories and their splinter group of batsh*t crazy, racist and even more populist Reform are certainly not an answer. But that’s where we’ll end up if everyone keeps losing faith in, or attacking, the more serious parties. [Post edited 7 May 19:42]
