Totally embraced the club from day 1 and 'got it'. He leaves a hero and we owe so much to him for where we are.

Yes. SOmetimes it's just best to ignore people. They're clearly craving attention.

It's sad most of the remaining double promotion team will be leaving this summer.

What a team! Chaplin was so good in the league 1 season

One of my favourite players on and off the pitch.
I would say woukd of the most influential players for our back to back promotions other than Morsey

Chappers deep in conversation with KMc as they walked out for that (first?) training session really stuck in my mind.

Pocket legend.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

It's easy to warm to players like Chaplin.

Gave everything, every single time, he really did seem to take Ipswich to heart though quite obviously a huge Portsmouth fan.

Forever a Town legend, the goals, the character, the aforementioned 'coffee club' was a great way for us to get to know the players what felt like, a much more personal level, and Chappers was one of those really good guys, someone you would loved to have sit and have a drink with.

Gutted he's leaving, but wow....5 years!!!!!! That's gone in a flash!

Nearly 1 in 3 from a player in the hole... 13 goals in his last season, love that he score in the premier league, that'll never leave.

That run though. Across the pitch.

One of the best.

Good luck!

"Conor Chaplin Baby" !!

I’m not crying, you are.

Gutted. Epitomised all that was good at the club from 22-24. A club legend who is up with the greats.

What a terrific player and an even better person for the work he did for the club off the pitch.

Championship clubs should be crawling over glass to sign him up. Played properly, he’s devastating. It wasn’t just his prolific goalscoring, it was how he brought others into the game.

And that run across the pitch after Sarmiento scored - cemented him in the club’s history. Good luck to him wherever his career takes him. When he returns to Portman Road in whatever capacity, I hope he is given the standing ovation he richly deserves.

Proper Town legend and a top top guy. Miss you Chappers

PS - There's advice and a helpline for those affected and upset by his very positive words about Mark Ashton, we are thinking of you at this difficult time xx

If only you had stopped typing at Chappers.

I know, but it was the guff on the mural post that annoyed me.

So yeah, Ive gone down to their level, guilty as charged.

However, I think it also shows that the wide condemnation and dislike of Ashton, maybe isn't exactly what many want it to be.

Crikey it's a bit dusty today! So many great memories of Chapper's moments on the pitch. Top servant for Ipswich, and a key part of why we are where we are today (as many of that League 1 group are). It always amazes me through history, how players with no previous connection with the club and area, stay for life, even when their careers take them elsewhere. Special club.

The epitome of a professional.

This guy will go down in folklore as one of our hero's. He's an absolute legend, not just on the pitch, but off the pitch. He gave us so many memorable moments, whilst understandable he's moving on and we all knew it, it still stings.

I wish him nothing but the best and hope he can secure himself a nice long contract somewhere in the Championship, so he can eventually walk off into the sunset financially sound, it's the least he deserves.

A really special player during those years and a club legend.

Maybe we will see him back in some form in the future.

Modern day town legend - will be missed.

Sadly the club outgrown his ability but not his heart or his desire for the club.

If we weren't promoted, I'd have kept him as I don't think for all of those that played the 10 role this season, none of them were as good as Chappers.

Spot on! A model professional and walking example that footballers can be so much more than just that. He has used his influence on the community in a way he never had too and that is why he will be an Ipswich icon.

I think you could see that he embraced the love he got from the fans and gave everything back for that. 55 goals in 127 starts seems like a crazy side note to his time here!

I hope his next move works perfectly for him. He deserves it.

An all time favourite.

Embraced and embodied the football club, along with Morsy etc, was the beating heart of our B2B side.

Would suggest we haven’t actually replaced his influence, impact and quality in our side yet, such a massive character on and off the pitch.

All the best Chappers, forever a hero in Suffolk.
