A lot of players people have put forward on this thread I would consider ITFC hero heros (legends?), not cult heros. But how would you define the difference?
My nomination for a cult hero is Macauley Bonne. Half a season of awesomeness and from a player the supports Ipswich! Yeah, it was at league 1 level, but that doesn't matter for this. I always think cult hero is a bit of a pejorative and especially in this context. He won the league five times. That’s a hero not a cult hero. Cult hero’s don’t achieve anything like that. |  |

I don't class these players as cult heroes as they well known and admired throughout the footballing world. I would class Wes Burns as a cult hero as he is not a household name even in footballing circles but has more than exceeded the expectations we had of him when he joined. |  | | |

If we rule out all Legends and Greats, then I would nominate the following:
Tommy Smith - he has the ultimate cult hero song!
Stephen Hunt - he was for me, anyway. I loved his 100% commitment as he supported the "stars" of the time, Murphy and McGoldrick, and helped them shine.
Sito Castro - there was something about him that everybody loved. Another 100% player.
Jaime Peters - from his signing onwards, everybody loved him. Out-leapt taller players, had huge shorts, played with a smile, gave everything. And came on as an emergency Left Back in a derby match and gave one of the best performances I had seen there in years.
Tyrone Mings - he came from non-League, was scouted by a legend, cost a packet of fags, and was bloody brilliant! But so one-footed at the start! I remember him taking off on a run out of defence down the wing, at real pace, and he ended up just outside the opposition box on the opposite side. And he volunteered at a Christmas Lunch for those who wouldn't get one otherwise. What a guy!
Moritz Volts - everybody was so excited by his pedigree, his bicycle riding and his intellectual blog. Everybody wanted him to be amazing. Somehow, he just wasn't. So he started as a cult hero, at least.
