Chambo Stat 23:01 - Mar 2 with 4872 viewsPhilTWTD

Occurred to me earlier that on Saturday Chambo will have played for more Town managers than anyone else: Jewell, McCarthy, Hurst, Lambert and Cook.

[Edit]Along with John Wark[/Edit]

I think you're right, I was forgetting here was still here after Sir Bobby left, so Robson, Ferguson, Duncan, Lyall, Burley. So Warky and Chambo, joint most managers.

McGiven was never officially manager was he? But that still makes 5 the same as Phil has for Chambers. Of course, it is over 3 separate spells unlike Chambers. Interestingly they were still consecutive managers for Warky.

There are players at some clubs who have only spent a couple of seasons there and played under nearly as many managers!

The difference being of course, Warky did pretty much all of his business in the top flight and Europe, and with great success.

Pretty certain McGiven was proper manager for a season or so? That's my memory anyway, that Lyall stepped back and McGiven was the main man.

Not offically; Lyall was still manager when McGiven was 'in charge'. Bit like Lambert was still manager when Gill seemingly took over from Oxford onwards.

I'm pretty sure he was our official manager, seem to remember we got relegated under his guidance!

I thought this too but i don't think it was the case. I can picture McGiven's photo in the Merlin sticker album for that year listed as manager though

Another interesting Chambo stat was he broke in to the top 10 all time total appearances for Town last night with 385, level with Doug Ellis & Frank Yallop

Tommy Miller must get an honourable mention

Burley (Mowbray) Royle and Magilton

He also played for Keane and McCarthy but when they were at sunderland not here, though he was on the subs bench for Keane's first game in charge of ITFC.

Apparently he's caretake manager at Swindon at the momen.

Chambo has so often been criticized, yet he has been first on the team sheet for several managers.
Yes, you could argue that we have been bad and declining during this time, but in my opinion very little of that has been down to Chambers who have been an excellent servant for the club.
Is his playing days for Ipswich nearing an end? Absolutely. But I would love it if he could finish his time with us with promotion.
