PL seems to be unable to change tactics during the games.
1 thing I did like - the strikers waited on the half way line at the oppositions corners.
Rather than having all 11 in our penalty area and no out ball.

You need mobile shutters on either side and we had Dozzell and Judge - Andre is probably the player least suited to that position in the league, if not the world.
What baffles me even more is that we tried to play that way against a 3412, which is the exact formation most people would use to counteract a diamond.

To be honest, it’s bloody easy to counteract a diamond and what’s ridiculous about this is Lambert had done his homework, he’d know we employed a diamond when Ferguson was manager in 2011 when we ripped us apart in the 7-1 mauling.
Ferguson did exactly the same last night as he did that day. The way we would and should have counteracted his system is with high pressing full backs. PL saw it for to leave them out though despite good performances Saturday.
I learnt more at semi-pro level tactically than watching this Town side. PL can’t change games or adapt. He can bring players on and change formations but that’s it. |  |
