Cook at Colchester tonight. on 20:38 - Mar 23 by MrTown
22 men kicking a ball. He loves football, it’s 15 minutes away, he might not be looking at anyone in particular.
But I think Courtney Senior is quite highly regarded (contract expires in the summer)
Best player - Kwame Poku had just received his first call up for Ghana so isn’t there. I posted about him on here a long long time ago.
Could be Senior, but PC will presumably be more familiar with Tranmere, in which case, Kaiyne Woolery, perhaps. Anyone know if they have an emerging defender, or even goalie?
I would have hoped it was Poku for Colchester or Blackett-Taylor for Tranmere but neither featured. Poku surprisingly getting a full call-up to the Ghana squad as mentioned above (is this a Sven/Walcott situation or have Ghana stopped producing top level talent?)
There's a young striker on the Tranmere bench. One David Nugent, maybe he will finally join us...

My guess is he went to look at a Tranmere player if he went to look at anyone in particular, but my guess is that it may just have felt like a better option than staying in watching telly. (Not many people are allowed to go to a game, so why not use the privilege?) I think Wiredu (playing as a destructive midfielder) is actually the U's best player at the moment, but he's only just arrived. Everyone is desperately short of confidence. Smith has been very wobbly since Christmas. Poku and Harriot are probably those most capable of playing at a higher level, but both are away on international duty. Senior did catch the eye tonight, and the overall performance was a bit more promising than it's been for a while. It could easily have been 4-4, so Cook will have been entertained at least.

Mick and TC would often go to Colchester - the reality is managers like to get out and watch games, and there aren't many options from here!

I’m imagining Lambert didn’t go and watch matches, not sure football is really his thing. Win win for Cook, gets to watch some live football and if anyone takes his fancy, they’re just down the road.
