Won't have another game as easy as that. FG absolutely woeful. But did what we had to do and that's all you want to see.

Roll on next week.

P.s. Jackson for Burns please.

FG were not that bad. We were not that much better than them, especially in midfield where they continually won 50/50s.
We were still far too slow to get the ball forward and although my weekend is much more joyful with a win, we did not outplay them.

We didn't outplay them, except the 4 to 0 goals, 25 to 4 shots, 12 to 0 shots on target, 10 to 3 corners etc etc etc.

They were shocking, they’re basically a mid table league 2 side. We handled them as we should expect to and should have scored more really. Not going to take much away from this game, 3 points and we move on to the next.

That’s what people were saying about Morecambe. There are plenty of poor teams down that end of the table to play.

To stand out in league one as bad is a pretty incredible achievement. It was like playing a competition winner.

That said, you can only beat what's put in front of you and we did that with enormous comfort. Will be back to the normal type of game next week. Chaplin and the back line were class today. Thought Jackson and Ladapo looked strong when they came on.

If I was being harsh, Hirst had that one move but to me looks bang average bar that. Burns needs resting, he's been poor for a while.

“Look, Ipswich were dominant. We struggled to get in that final third. We couldn't really get the strikers in the game and struggled with the possession.”

Big Dunc

What has been said in the post is quite clearly a load of bollox. I’m not having that we were not very good. We came out from the first minute looking more positive than for several weeks, scored after a coupe of minutes then did what we needed to do to keep them at bay. FGR did win a share of dispossessions and tackles but we had possession of upwards of 60% - don’t be that fan that can’t find anything positive in our performances.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

Job done. on 22:45 - Feb 18 with 1231 viewsRobTheMonk

Forest Green were incredibly naive in their play. On the right we especially had so much space to run into.

Solid performance and should have scored more if were being honest.

Chaplin has looked a much better player when played with Broadhead. Get Chaplin in and around the box and he’ll get goals. He’s much better further forward than in the middle third although his passing again today was much better and has greatly improved since mid January.

Walton, again in a game with not a huge amount to do has another dodgy moment. In isolation nothing to worry about, but it’s becoming a slight worry.

The midfield is a slight concern going forward as Morsy is inevitably going to get a yellow sooner of later which leaves a not fully fit Luongo and Humphrey’s who has looked a little leggy in the past few games. It will be interesting to see who gets used as an auxiliary midfielder if needed.

But yes, good result and we have to go on a run now. Teams around us are winning so we have to gain some momentum.

100%. Said I’d like to see us play a 3-5-2 (tweaked) with Chaplin and Broadhead up top, they are so much better further forward than inside forward it’s ridiculous and of course further forward is their natural position, they’ve been pushed back by McKenna.

Walton, agree, he has looked dodgy for a while now and he is an absolute liability with the ball at his feet, which is a bit of an issue for a team that plays out from the back, Hladky is hugely more comfortable with the ball at his feet and he has looked the part whenever played, got to be the unluckiest man in the squad to have not seen more league games.

You are plucking random people from the sky to play up front in a new system when we have two strikers made for L1, one in goal scoring form, and the players you speak of are both scoring with starting positions down the pitch? Why choose the day we win 4 nil to come up with this?

Look at our average game positions, we did play with 2 up front but it was Burns higher up, and despite managing to score two goals Chaplin looked to be playing deeper allowing difficult run to track into the penalty box.

There is plenty of variation in player positions in our system in-game without being preoccupied by standard off shelf starting formations. What we miss at times is the variation in what we do with the ball in my view.

Versus FGR we did everything we needed to do and it was different to more recent games where teams have blocked us off.
