An error of judgement? Has also been said to be out of character.

ITV showing the video and it's clear her actions were not a one off, rather a method of training that were the norm for decorated Olympian Charlotte Dujardin.

I agree, pathetic cop out attempt. Trying to have us believing that the one time she's ever done that she was caught.

As seems to be the way with horses and sport, for all of the talk about horse welfare there's a lot of just smacking the horses so they behave.

This is abuse plain and simple - no different to Kurt Zouma and his cat kicking.

Someone can still lock an animal up from birth, chain it, gag it with metal, tie it up, kick it, beat it a few times, to ride on its back for fun though? Totally within character.

TWTD is in favour of whipping horses when money is to be made from it though.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

And yet some people are happy to have animals slaughtered and eat their dead flesh when there are plenty of plant based alternatives.

What is more cruel?

Clearly harming an animal for no good reason is more cruel than farming them for food (where they're swiftly killed, not made to suffer over years, presumably).

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

When you're caught in secret like that, it's unlikely to be a one off and so it's not an error of judgement and out of character.

On the rare occasion I've seen dressage on TV, I've often wondered how they make the horses move in such an unnatural way. Now I know! How on earth can this be an Olympic sport?

Whipping of a horse should never be allowed, same in horse racing. The whip should be totally ban, no horse would go round finding something to whip itself with in the wild.

Now this was many, many years ago I will admit, so it's possible things have changed, but I lived in Newmarket for a few months and I often saw jockeys constantly whipping horses when out on the gallops training the horses.

As in not deliberately made to suffer at the hands of a whip. I'm not suggesting they have a perfect life, but if you eat free range then they're not being punished on a regular basis like this 'training' of a horse appears to be.

And killing animals for food, whether you think it's right or wrong at least has a legitimate reason behind it. Dressage (and indeed horse racing) are just folly that we don't have any need for.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

A jockey's whip no longer produces pain to a horse, it is the movement and noise the horse responds to, the old school whip with the leather bit on the end was a totally different matter.

Laura Kenny has done her like a kipper leaking those videos.

On a serious note, shouldn't hit any animals. I wouldn't take my dog for a walk and whip it to go faster nor would I appreciate someone whipping me to run quicker/work faster.

The point you originally responded to is that there are plenty of plant based alternatives now.

So the reason many people eat meat is because it's yummy, they enjoy it.
The reason people watch dressage is that they enjoy it.

Same reason, but the one you enjoy you've made a point to make it "legitimate".

Additionally, free-range and well kept animals might be morally easier to accept, but how often do people actually buy quality meat... and they still die painfully...

This is why I don't understand the apology culture. Society gets outraged and demands an apology. So they give a fake apology and things move on.

It's like being caught having an affair. Now there are consequences people are sorry.

Indeed, unless you feel genuine remorse, accept your behaviour was wrong & clearly intend to change it in the future, an apology is cosmetic & meaningless.
Show jumping has also been in trouble in the past e.g. with the practice of "rapping", whereby a horse's leg is hit to encourage it to jump over poles cleanly in future.
Former show jumper and manager of the UK team Peter Robeson was accused of training his horses over nail studded poles & hedgehog skins in an attempt to "encourage" them to jump cleanly.

Many years ago when at Secondary Modern School our class visited a slaughter house (Not sure they would do that now) It was a pork processing plant, So we saw front when the pigs were stunned by electric tongs and then their throats cut from which they then went through a bleeding chamber. From there they were dissected and processed. No one is forced to eat meat or for that matter vegetables. It's a personal choice. These animals wouldn't exist if they were used for food. The rights and wrongs are open to debate, but I would suggest the UK problem have far stricter rules and regs compared to many country's having watched Clarkson's Farm it's apparent our regulations are pretty hot but that doesn't mean a few rogues don't still slip through the net.

"So we saw front when the pigs were stunned by electric tongs and then their throats cut from which they then went through a bleeding chamber. From there they were dissected and processed". The some mug paid ninety quid for them to be squeezed into a a couple of sausages and served up with a side of mash.

I am a carnivore but your argument is nonsense and simply to make you feel better about chomping on bacon. There is very little that's humane about the mass meat industry.

People need to eat to survive, no-one needs to watch dressage.

I appreciate you don't need to eat meat, necessarily, but need is at the very basic level of why you eat anything. Humans have been eating meat for thousands of years, due to need. Whilst it's obviously a lot easier now to be meat free, it still takes a fair amount of effort to get all the nutrients you need by other means, and so it will take time to ween humans off meat.

None of this is the same as watching a pony walk funny. There is zero benefit, there, to humans. So yes, that is obviously more cruel because it's totally unnecessary and is ONLY pleasure.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
