Not in terms of age, but in terms of who has been on here the longest.

unstableblue posted recently about being onhere for 24 years, about the same for me, but it just seems most on here now are new (ish).

Any more of the old guard out there?

RIP Sir Bobby

I kind of imagined that you joined as a young man "Cabin Boy Funge"

The Able Seaman Funge after a few years....Bosun Funge

Then maybe a few years as Midship Funge, before your recent position as Admiral

I'm guessing you are in civvy street now....just plain Mr Funge, dreaming of past glories

A bit like Town fans everywhere

Hello ES!

I think my boat sank around the time that Josh Yorwerth ran into Polish Pete at Old Trafford.

Football is great nowadays.

Is all good in the West?

Wasn't that Norwich blue / markas khan or was that Julian? I was a big fan.

Yes it was - MKhanisBent (Mary Whitehouse Experience reference, easily the best thing about him).

He was mad.

All good here in the West thanks....I loved the game Saturday, it had it all

Passion, desire, commitment and a good result

Not good if your boat sinks

That is weird I replied but it isnt here?

I was posting in the 90s but spent a large chunk banned because of roy keane

We could do an age test with some questions

What did bebof stand for?

Who was the resident comedian ?

Who did a poo report ?

Who did a daily summary?

What uni did brit boy go to?

Who announced himself to the pub?

HAAAAA. "HI, I'm Tom Whatever from TWTD"

Tom something or other announced himself to the Gunners boozer. Can't remember his surname. Bluestar/Blackiej outed himself, in some embarrasmment. Me and my mate didn't. Tom Hall maybe.

Clangers went to Lincoln.

Vesters went on about his dumps.

Sparrovs became a comedian. He went from happy go lucky to dark as sin in worrying fashion.

2000/1 season for me.

2002/2003 for me, there have been some great characters on here over the years and some great entertainment provided even when the football is rubbish.

I'm another who arrived in '97 or thereabouts. I was a reasonably prolific poster in the early 2000s, not so much any other time, but I have a look to see what's going on most days.

They were brothers! A couple of absolute doyles. One of them renamed themselves IllinoisGlue (after our respected peer on this very site); no-one knew why.

There was another bloke on there (Ratpack?) who was more Millwall than budgie, and actually quite good value.

Oh the memories! Ratty was good fun, very easy to wind up. I don’t even want to think how many hours of my life have been spent on footy forums. Dear lord.

Twenty years for me. I used to have to wait until six o'clock every evening because i was on dial up then so didn't want it to cost. I can still remember that awful screeching dial up sound. I also remember the Rivals era. Thicky Bilverstone ran the Norwich one and would occasionally come on here.

Didn't Thicky take over the old Rivals TWTD board for a while and banned everyone who took the piss out of him(ie, everyone)?

Didn't Bilverstone eventually get outed as a massive racist?

Yep.

I have no idea how long ago. I think it was around the time Tractorgirl was run off the site.

I can remember sometimes buying the printed fanzine but if the forum existed at that time I was unaware of it (in fact that seemed like it was before I had the internet anyway).

BEBOF = Big-eared Boys on Farms

Richsparov was the comedian, I think... but grumpy and not very funny which might still fit the job description

Vestanpance did the poo report.

Should know who did the daily summary but I'm drawing a blank.

2001 or 2002 for me.

Vesty was a good poster, trying to think of some of the others of that era.
I do remember the Mark Alexander episode, it still brings tears to my eyes thinking about it.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

You're saying Mark Alexander but I'm drawing a blank. What was that about?

There are a lot of references that have disappeared down certain threads I've never clicked on.

Like the Battenberg cake stuff which just sounds like old people in a home. A sort of comforting, burbling background that makes me happy because they're happy.

I think I could have a guess at who he is but he can DM me to say hello.

He was known in real life by at least one other poster, professionally.

Yes he was a good poster indeed.

And yes that makes sense :) I can picture him now striding in to the Gunners. It was all a bit Fast Show. Rob behind the bar was nonplussed. There was an awkward silence. No one knew who anyone else was. Blackiej was on his own and introduced himself, in a very uninterested way, like he felt someone had to say something. Then they didn't talk to each other. I kept my head down.

Wasn't that long ago though... reckon 2006/7ish...

EDIT: And yeh, pretty sure it was indeed Tom Hall. Blackiej/Bluestar will know for sure, but he hardly every posts these days.

Mid to late 90s - pre rivals.

Posted as Lingfield Blue. Changed username when I moved away from Lingfield.

I believe CITB did the daily summary,
Remember vestanpance, there were a few Town fans in London posting here.

Pre-Twitter and much more fun (sadly).

Tom was also probably one of the few posters who would never have been regretful or ashamed about anything he ever posted.

He clearly didn't read the room. :)

I can’t recall what the subject was but he was asking for advice about something under an anonymous username. He then tried to link his next post to a website but posted a link to a document on his hard drive with his name exposed as part of the url.
A complete meltdown ensued and of course the usual TWTD mickey taking didn’t help.
