Agree. A player who did well in a relegated team is going to want to stay in the Championship if he had the option.

Would’ve loved Matt Crooks here. But the fact we went in with two bids for him and really chased the signing to me is encouraging. Being a league one club is the thing that makes these signings tough. Now let’s focus on the wingers and defenders.

I thought russell martin's comment that we 'had all pre-season to make an offer but waited until two weeks after training started' basically meant we put the bid in for fraser once we knew crooks wasn't going to happen. Making two big money signings who play in the same position is madness. Excellent plan B.

Agreed - Ashton said we had our eye on four players in each position and Fraser was simply another target if Crooks didn’t pay off. Still in a very good position in central midfield though another signing would be useful in that position to give us a bit of depth.

Will be a shame as Crooks would be a beast at this level. Truth be told I was finding it increasingly difficult to believe that he would end up back in L1.

Like another poster points out, this will make Rotherham weaker. We have Fraser in the attacking midfield role so will give him a clearer path to excel.

The noises at the club were that they were confident. Having outbattled the likes of Millwall, Coventry and Hull for other players, Middlesbrough were perhaps too big for us to compete with while at this level.
