Ashton rules the roost. Doubt Cook liked it.

I agree it's not unreasonable for a Chief Executive to make a decision to take a player out of the first team set up if they really think it's warranted. Sadly we'll probably never know the whole story. I'd imagine Cook would have wanted him involved if it was up to him.

Don't think it's fair to say Norwood is trying to create disharmony. Is he not just saying it how it is (or what he sees it to be)?

I think that's naive.

To me, telling people that the manager’s hands were tied is an attempt to create disharmony. He could easily have wished Cook well without commenting on his perceived reasons behind his failure. I can’t think of why he would make that comment other than to try and create disharmony and change the narrative about himself.

I will tell you this.

Someone else on this thread said Ashton is a nasty piece of work. And the same agent who told me Cook was gone said more or less the same thing. To be honest, I tended to think he was just saying it from a agents POV in that he works hard to not pay over the odds and drives a hard bargain. But may well be true.

Here's a bit of news for you, people in Ashton's role are generally ruthless and quite unpalatable to us mere minions.

Every person in a C Suite position I've met over the years has been a wolf in sheeps clothing.

No. Christ on a bike, even now he's been sacked for being sh!t the excuses keep on coming. If you really think Ashton was picking the team then what does it say about Cook that he just accepted it and didn't walk out and claim constructive dismissal?

I wouldn't be surprise if the decision to ban Norwood from the club came from the top due to his indiscretions rather than Cook, particularly going off Norwood's comments.

Nobody has had their head stuck in the sand over Ashton. Some people prefer to take people as they find them, rather than rely on the views of a bunch of weird Bristol City window lickers whose club has not exactly roared up the league since he left.

I suspect the American hands are in this along with the Chairman’s. Americans don’t do failure. Ashton will be under considerable pressure to deliver on and off the pitch and rightly so..

There is a reason Norwood didn’t play for Cook …

If James Norwood is eluding to the fact that its above Cook the reason that he is not playing, that will be because ehe is off brand.

So maybe if James Norwood didn't get p1ssed an then decide to drive in his car and put peoples lives at risk he may be playing. He can do one and all

Surely the same proportion of sports teams fail in America as do here?

Why is anyone listening to Norwood. He shouldn't have been anywhere near the first team. Two be better strikers in the squad and we only played with one striker.

Yes, for every winner there is a loser. But if you look at say the NFL, if an element of a team or the team itself isn’t doing it, they don’t tend to last unless there’s a very good reason. Same with players. It used to be the same with baseball and NHL, but I’ve not kept up with those two for a long time

Norwood should have been sacked after his drink drive conviction.

If the new owners didn’t want him representing their new club I have no issue with it at all.
