I agree it's not unreasonable for a Chief Executive to make a decision to take a player out of the first team set up if they really think it's warranted. Sadly we'll probably never know the whole story. I'd imagine Cook would have wanted him involved if it was up to him.

To me, telling people that the manager’s hands were tied is an attempt to create disharmony. He could easily have wished Cook well without commenting on his perceived reasons behind his failure. I can’t think of why he would make that comment other than to try and create disharmony and change the narrative about himself. |  | | |

Yes, for every winner there is a loser. But if you look at say the NFL, if an element of a team or the team itself isn’t doing it, they don’t tend to last unless there’s a very good reason.
