Bitterness and straw clutching at its best on 10:12 - May 5 by NthQldITFC | What Southampton and Norwich and others did before us was a great achievement too, but as Jobi MacAnuff (I think it was) was saying yesterday everything about our achievement here was more impressive considering the 10 odd more points we got, the increased chasm between Prem and Championship, the quality of the three relegated teams, etc. etc. And yet, this is just a stepping stone for us, not something to bang on about as a pinnacle of success when it becomes ancient history!!! |
Southampton and Norwich also had a double relegation before that, so they still had the Premier League parachute payments and remnants of a squad put together in the top tier to participate in League One then the Championship. All they needed was a hand with momentum, which relegation gave them. We slowly rotted away in the Championship. The squad we went down with was probably one of the worst, if not the worst, in second tier history. We had no money and a lack of positive direction. Gamechanger changed us definitely, and the money helped, but fans of other clubs are pointing out we succeeded this season on relative pittance with (no offence to the players) a bunch of journeymen. Norwich fans, and one person on the Sunderland forum who seems to think we would have been in £40m of debt had we failed to go up, seem to struggle to accept this.

I dunno. I've got a sneaking suspicion that Sargent might be warming the bench for an East Anglian club in the Premier League next season.

I really hope that Leeds get their act together and give them a damn good thrashing and then see how many spout their rubbish. If and I hope they dont, get there - a beating at Wembley would taste even better - then half that team will need to be sold to balance the books. Cant see the American putting millions into Delias oven To our dear friends and neighbours up the A140 - SUCK IT UP!!!!! |
Agree with all this, but that phrase made me slightly nauseous 😁
Bitterness and straw clutching at its best on 10:58 - May 5 with 2593 views | OldFart71 | Dear oh dear, what a sad bunch. Their achievements you could write on the back of a postage stamp. But then I'd hate to waste £1.25. Our problems over the last 20 odd years have been a propensity to get in bad managers run by owners that either overstretched themselves or gave up after a few seasons of giving money to managers that hadn't a clue. We never had parachute payments that allowed us to bounce back and whilst I begrudgingly give the Budgies some credit for having to sell players when relegated and get in the likes of Pukky they nevertheless got and are still getting vast amounts of money through these payments. Yes we have Gamechanger behind us now and another £120 million added recently far more has been spent on facilities than on players. That may now have to change, but I am sure spending won't be reckless. Sad really that anyone should begrudge us a small bit of glory after 22 years and as the stats show whether others like it or not it has been a record breaking achievement.

But, even if we hadn’t, that’s a massive well done to the players and medical team. Not a stick to beat anyone with 😂

Bitterness and straw clutching at its best on 09:44 - May 5 by FrimleyBlue | So much to laugh at. " if we win play offs it will taint their promotion" No. It really won't. Just means not only could we have leicester on - points to start with. We'd have yo yo norwich too. So that's 2 relegation spots taken. |
If Everton also go into administration, you can add them to that list. That’s why I’m Norwich or West Brom for the p/os. Don’t think it helps us if Leeds or the Saints go up

Bitterness and straw clutching at its best on 12:07 - May 5 with 2481 views | Churchman | The Oinkun really is comedy gold. Is a sort of collective effort in denial and confused thinking. History doesn’t matter unless it’s 16 years of not losing to them. Promotion under Farke and Lambert was better than ‘the Binners’ this season. They need to make their tiny minds up. As for the quality of this season’s top four its not all that: ‘The quality of the whole league was very poor, make no mistake. Not a vintage year for sure. Look at the spluttering way the league ended. Not great’ Well, the bitter budgies now have two or three games to prove it. If they win the play offs I’ve no doubt it’ll be the greatest victory since Julius Caesar conquered Gaul. [Post edited 5 May 2024 15:20]

Bitterness and straw clutching at its best on 08:56 - May 5 by CaptainAhab | " all they are going to get is to watch their team get battered every match, having all the media talking about them not having any ambition and all the plastic prem fans talking about how they should be banned from promotion and then at the end of the season losing their manager and their best players." That is hilarious projection! Love to see the bitter canaries! |
It’s the complete lack of self-awareness that I find hilarious. In one breath we’ll get flogged every week and crash and burn into a humiliating mess in the Prem. In the next breath they laud their ‘decades of success’ which consisted of……. getting flogged every week and crashing and burning into a humiliating mess in the Prem. If only some of them were brave enough to leave the county and see the levels of pity with which they are universally viewed outside of Norfolk. Might gain a fair bit of much needed reality and humility.

It does always seem a very small pool of posters on there. I assume the majority use the other one, the awful yellow one? Or perhaps the handful of OinkUn accounts which post are 'family' accounts, in which case they might just be massive!

Bitterness and straw clutching at its best on 09:20 - May 5 by Dyland | Awful confession, but I quite like Delia :) I've said it over and over again Churchers, and it's worth repeating. When neutrals talk about Ipswich they talk about our managers and players. When Norwich comes up, it's all Delia, Ed Bollix and Stephen Fry. QE fackin D COYFB!! |
I DID like Delia until her visit to us, during which she suffered such a traumatic event that the poor dear had to have therapy and medication for life as a result. Imagine having to endure the experience of an empty beer can being thrown on to the bonnet of a car in which you are back seat passengers and driving at high speed.........( well 2 MPH)

well Christian Walton for one, we started the season with our second choice keeper, who just happened to be flippin brilliant replacement. Leif was injured too, still is really, and thats impacted how hes played since as he doesnt run as cleanly as he did early season, Chaplin missed a game or two with an injury. but yeah weve had a fair few injuries in key positions [Post edited 5 May 2024 13:26]

If they do stay down will they count next season as another year of 'dominance' like they did when we were in the Championship and they were in League 1?

Bitterness and straw clutching at its best on 13:39 - May 5 with 2280 views | Swansea_Blue | Imagine being that bitter. It can’t be good for their mental health. I particularly like them thinking they can out compete us when it comes to honours. Titles are always nice of course whatever league you’re in, and if a lower league title is all you can achieve then of course you need to celebrate it. But to then try and wave your inadequate dick at people who’ve won something meaningful is hilarious.

Bitterness and straw clutching at its best on 16:16 - May 5 with 1986 views | Mullet | I love how they constantly went on about attendances, and it's all they can do now. The Wagner hokey-kokey all season, the entitled and bitter divisions, they're a club in a mess. Promotion saved them last time, and it will do this time. That's why it'll be brilliant if they deservedly fail. The idea it takes the shine off our season is the best bit of delusion of the lot.
