How are we going to embarrass ourselves tomorrow? 12:44 - Sep 13 with 12505 views_clive_baker_

Will it be the unfurling of a laughably bad banner along the lines of 'there's some things wot money can't not buy, for everything else there's AMEX' or will we stick to the tried and tested 'we can see you holding hands?'.

Excited to see what the numpties have in store tomorrow.

As for the game, I've got a good feeling. They're a very good side innit, started the season fantastically well when you consider they tonked Everton, beat United and took a point at the Emirates. Something in my bones says we'll get an unlikely result though.

You're spot-on re the Man U disallowed goal - it was going in anyway, why disallow it because it hit another player who was offside? Another victory for VAR v football.

It's nothing to do with VAR. The guy was offside, it was his prerogative to not touch the ball, then the goal would have stood.

I've got a feeling McKenna will have something up his sleeve to knock Hurzeler of his spot.

As good a start to the season they've had, it's involved playing vs 10 men for a big chunk v Everton, a ludicrous* disallowed goal to lose v Man U, and then another red v Arsenal early on to totally change the game.

They are a very good side, and a real inspiration for a club like us with how they have grown over last decade plus, but we've got a much better manager than them and that gives us a big chance of getting something. Bookies odds are laughable on this one - real value in DNB or Double Chance for me.

*Decision was correct, but just the fact Zirkzee couldn't get out of the way of it was ludicrous

I know what you mean, someone else made the point to me this week that it feels massively like a game McKenna will relish and have a plan cooked up for. I do wonder if it's a bit early in this group's evolution to execute everything perfectly in an away game this tough. Sounds boring but most of all I'll be looking for positive signs that we can be competitive in this kind of fixture.

Looking on the Seagulls forum, they think we are going to get a hammering, lots of 5-0, 4-0 predictions. A few gone for a tough game, one or two with a draw but not many.

Brighton fans seem very confident about the 3 pts. I guess they see us as just another Sheff Utd or Luton from last season.

I'm all for VAR bashing, it's ruined the sport as we know it.

But I don't think you can grumble at that decision. Player clearly offside touches the ball before it goes into the net - has to be disallowed.

Blame the player.

Yes, but the point being that he couldn't stop himself, and the ball was going into the goal anyway. The ball hit him, rather than him touching the ball.

We'll have to agree to disagree, I just see decisions like that as rediculous, taking more even more fun/spontaneity out of the game when it not necessary.

I really don't get the embarrassment over that banner. I don't think it was a dig at Brighton fans - who had obviously been through a lot with previous dodgy owner - but just a light-hearted play on the fact that they are now sponsored by one of the biggest multi-nationals on the planet....who's whole raison d'etre is making shedloads of money off people!

So, there you go, I expect down-votes, or abuse, or both, for saying it, but personally, I thought it was OK.

GIven the history of Brighton, homeless for years and forced to play in the embarrassment of the Withdean, it was an odd choice of target. And made it an uncomfortable exit from the stadium for a lot of Town fans wearing colours that day, who had nothing to do with the banner.

Yes, I remember arguing with a lot of Brighton fans on the train back from Falmer, some of whom got rather heated about it, but from where I sat I couldn't even see the banners!

Love this Joe - “but we've got a much better manager than them and that gives us a big chance of getting something”

I suspect that McKenna and Hurzeler are on a par, and will both manage top level clubs. Perhaps McKenna has a bit more understanding and experience in English football and has had longer with his players.

I do think Brighton have a stronger set of attackers - but we’ve invested heavily in that area as well.

I’d take a draw. But have a feeling Morsy and Phillips could be the difference for us. Our full backs are in for a fun afternoon (again!!)

If Hurzeler was as good as McKenna, then Brighton would have been going after him first rather than McKenna!

Great point, well made

Brighton would have had a list, agree McKenna was the preferred choice and that Hurzeler was frankly more of a gamble than McKenna, given the Germans age and pedigree, and the Bundesliga 2 level.

But just suspect they’ve gambled well and this guy - like McKenna - is destined for the top.

But like you hoping that his luck from his first 3 games may wear out, and as I said he’s not got the longevity with the club and playing staff as McKenna.

Going to be tough. And as McKenna alluded to in this presser Brighton have the infrastructure to settle new players (and foreign) in quicker.

I still have a sneaky feeling it will be a good day at the Amex.

Was at that game - loads of Brighton fans after the match having a go at us about something I didn't even know had happened as banner wasn't easily visible from where we were. Other odd thing about banner is wording contains a double negative so it reads as the opposite to what I expect it was meant to mean.

I was at that away game, admittedly in the Brighton family stand with my son who lives in Brighton.
To my chagrin he is a Brighton supporter having gone there to university and 24 years later still lives there.
All the Brighton supporters around me thought it was hilarious and appreciated the banner.
Mind you I think we got stuffed away that day and we were an embarrassment.
I don’t want to cast aspersions but I think it was a typical McCarthy display.

You always get idiots but complete absence of any homophobic chanting which was good to hear. I think generally our fan base are as it good as it gets tbh.

Trust the ejected fan learns a lesson.

Some effort seeing as it was Feb 2012, 8 months before McCarthy took over

For the record we played there 5 times under him only losing twice (P5 W2 D1 L2)

Some may argue that yesterday was a typical McCarthy performance!

Looked to me like quite a few were booted out in the first 10 in the section on the very far left of our end - the reaction of the Brighton fans was as if they’d reported them as they seemed to take great pleasure in it all when stewards came over (and must be a fairly regular occurrence for those sat there!).

I was very close to them. No one was ejected - they were moved to their correct seats - younguns stood with their mates.

Not sure how/why it came to the stewards attention but that was the issue from what I could tell.
