It was far better than average though? We addressed 3 key needs and then got a luxury player in Philogene.

Have a look at the other deals across the PL and ask yourself if there was really much more we could have done.

Ferguson was the only first team striker bought in across the entire PL. That tells you what a challenge it was.

Brighton's pickup caught the eye - Stefanos Tzimas, £20m. 10 goals in 17 for Nuremberg in the Bundesliga. Would have reignited our Greek striker saga.

I was just thinking back to all those transfer deadline days under Marcus Evans ownership and thinking this one ain't so bad.

Solid Midfielder with the goalie for me.
If we had Encisco permanently would have been OK with no Billy Gene who is too lightweight would have preferred that in the summer if it was to be, think we have overpaid massively and I can see crowd turning against him in this division turning point for me Saturday was the sub of Broadhead and Cajuste. Godfrey bought in the hope he doesn't need to play ? So a weird and probably ineffective window for me. It is also yet ro be established if the goalie is a starter or a back up to Muric

Enciso is going to cost someone the best part of £50M if he gets sold. That was never ever happening.

Philogene was an opportunistic signing, judging him as an 'overpay' after two games is absurd.

Godfrey massively improves our depth and allows us to play with a similar profile to Axel. Would you rather have Clarke or Johnson start?

I think with Julio we have a back up striker if we need it. So it's a good signing which covers two positions imo

Philogene is one for the future. One we clearly wanted and if the option was to get him this window or lose him to another side then I'm glad we've got it done as he has a very bright future.

Godfrey. Not quite sure what to make of this signing. But after watching johnson and seeing how we miss axel when he's not playing then another option was needed.

Palmer.. good keeper. Not a baller so it's an interesting signing on that front. But he is a shot stopper and a confident keeper in great form.

New left back..
Good to see another youngster come in. I think that's 5 now this season from prem academies into ours. It's important we build that squad up..

I think I'm gonna go with a 7 out of 10.

Next season obv depends on league and who we don't have to sell .but if we do go down. You could say we only have the midfield to look at it with all other positions well covered between this season signings and our promotion winning players.

Blimey - a deadline day signing from PhilTWTD.

I'd be happy to give it a 6 or a 7. We added real PL quality in Godfrey and Enciso and I trust the process with Jaden. We've frequently returned for targets and it's worked out.

Never even really heard of the new keeper so nothing to say on that.

Two loans - Encisco is promising but don't think Godfrey plays much with Axel fit....
Overpaid for Billy Jean - not good enough for Villa and a signing for the future in Championship
A reactionary last day signing of GK.

Most people believe we needed a forward and midfielder and neither have been addressed.

I'd rate our transfer window 3.5/10

Hard to see how we have overpaid for Philogene- we paid pretty much what we valued him at in the summer and what Villa thought was a good enough deal to trigger (even if they seemingly didnt really want him)

This isn't the window talking it's the results during the window talking.

Palmer, Godfrey, Philogene and Enciso are excellent additions.

Yes we could have done with a striker but very early in Jan it was becoming clear it wouldn't be feasible without overspending behind our means or taking someone not adequate.

I'm still at around a 7 for the window. We are just made miserable by results

I’ll award a very generous 3 and that’s for the signing of Enciso.

Godfrey and Philogene both look poor. Particularly Philogene.

A somewhat pointless assessment at this point, as we’ve had nowhere near long enough to assess the impact of the recruits. It would be more reasonable to have a first assessment after 4-5 games, and then at the end of the season.

4/10

The failure to bring in another striker is the biggest thing but we've added some depth with Godfrey and Palmer. Philogene is a good long term signing. Enciso could be crucial.

4 feels slightly harsh but the striker issue can't be excused.

Truly impaired.

I would have been excited if we had gone Philogene in the summer but now I’m slightly perplexed given the number of left sided options we have. For me either one of Chappers, Broady or Smoz have to play to balance the side. Chappers and Smoz are very good at finding pockets of space in and around the box. Without them the defenders only really have to worry about Delap when we’re looking to put the ball in the box. I know he’s not scored yet but Broady also offers goals.
Also feel that Clarke is exceptionally talented but the role that’s being asked of him clearly doesn’t suit him right now.

What a bunch of wingers. What world are you people living in. As I understand it we are fighting in the relegation zone short on finance by ffp and there are shortages in Delap type players. We have done better than I expected by a long way. Any player good enough for you guys on here are out of our financial league and are after silverware, not a relegation battle.Get behind your team and
manager give those player some respect at least they have wanted to lay for us.Rant over.
