....it's the December period of games and we're 6 points off top spot sat in the play offs

What are you going to be asking for in the January transfer window and why ?

Josh Sargent.

Fills the still-vacant striker slot whilst amusing that lot up the road.

I'd love this, but I suspect there's no real chance of doing it, unless it really is pants-down money.

Attanasio has indicated that he knows that giving us Nunez was a mis-step, and he's highly unlikely to compound that by agreeing to let their only remaining jewel go to their deadly rivals, at a time when said rivals are very much enjoying dancing on their grave*.

*OK, maybe grave is a bit strong. Dancing on their mum's nice dining room table in muddy football boots having gate crashed a house party that their mum didn't give them permission to have when she was out of town for a long weekend to celebrate the 32nd anniversary of them participating against Bayern Munich. Unless that's too kind, in which case grave.

Staggered that no-one has suggested a new keeper.

It's our biggest weakness right now.

Back-up for Matusiwa would be important, along with a 3rd striker.

Assuming Palmer is back from injury before January, and is on similar form to October, I don't think a big change of direction on something so foundational as a keeper is warranted.

I fully accept that if we do go up, a high quality keeper is a top priority (see our Premier League seasons without Richard Wright, versus the one with Richard Wright). I would describe Palmer as a 'good to very good' Championship keeper. if we don't go up, I wouldn't be clamouring to replace him, unless there is a Premier League quality keeper that we can somehow manager to attract, which seems unlikely. I would favour stability in that position, unless the upgrade is sizeable.

If it were to turn out that Palmer is not coming back from injury any time soon, then I think that does shift the dial.

A creative number 10 who's more similar in style to Chaplin than Szmodics or Akpom. There's simply not enough output coming from that area.

Morsy only,
A leader knows the system,
Should be here now at the training ground,
No one else this squad will win the league,

A fully fit and firing Wes Burns, because McAteer just isn't cutting it

The Wes of old would be a huge boost to the squad. But after a year out with a serious injury… gonna take him a few months to get fit enough to make an impact.

Striker. Hirst has been generally poor this season (bar a handful of headers/tap ins from 3 yards or less) and Azon's finishing has also been poor. Someone who can get 10-15 goals 2nd half of the season, will be vtal to any promotion bid (inc play-offs if necessary).

Don't need to go and buy one

Akpom rotate with Hirst
Bring chappers back for the 10 role

ridiculous decision to loan him out tbh

I think we need:

LB cover (would love a 19-21yo version of leif)
CB cover (for O’Shea)
CM cover (for Matusiwa)
ST potential first choice (someone who can build this season and hit the ground running as first choice next season)

Nice to have:
GK (James Trafford loan with option if we go up is far fetched but someone similar)

Why don't you think Nunez is a long term fit? He's doing well and will surely improve in the role as he plays it more.

Think hes better and more effective from a deeper role.

Goals can change how effective ppl look in a game thought he was ok but no more than that imo.

At current rate Hirst is on for 19 goals this season.

Yep, love the guy but if we are pushing for autos we need back up/ equal ability in case of injury for rotation. I don’t see that being Azon

The only Muff in Town.

Very harsh on Hirst. I really wish we'd reassess what "poor" actually means and looks like.

I definitely agree though that a third striker would be very helpful in January, as would proper back-ups to Davis and Matusiwa.

Couldn't agree more

Some of our fans are utterly clueless.

Azon looks good to me. Needs and goal and should have had one by now but he works hard and looks pretty sound technically too. I can't see us going in for another number 9 in January.

A better Jack Taylor with a left foot. Some kind of LB cover. A really solid loan striker would be good as I feel we need 3.

We've certainly got the squad places for plenty of activity with Baggott, Humphreys, Harry Clarke etc all looking more dispensable by the week. That's 3 before we really get to a 1 in, 1 out scenario that would require losing anyone contributing. Button would make 4 if its a keeper addition. Wouldn't surprise me if Ben Johnson got a move either.

I can see us bringing 3 or 4 in at least.

Do tap-ins and headers not count any more? Haaland will be losing a few from him tally as well in that case.

If Hirst carries on his current 5 in 12 games for the whole season he finishes with 19 goals which is a very decent return.

In between now and the end of January, if we have been playing really well and around the top two. And if Middlesbroughs form has fallen badly, I think we might go in for Hackney again. Slim chance, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Possibly that Uruguayan defender who stated that he regretted not coming here. Forgotten his name.

I would ask for a Morsy replacement or the man himself to back up Taylor and Matusiwa, not sure if Cajuste is suited to that role or just injured still.

A no9 as Hirst has been out of form and I’m not convinced on Azon.

If Morsy is the answer then we are in trouble. He's too slow now and wont have played competitive football for months.
