What’s happening up the A140? 11:20 - Jun 9 with 7242 views | textbackup | For as long as I can remember they’ve fell in a bucket of sht and come out smelling of roses… However, theyve just signed a 31 year old that’s played 23 games in 3 years, for context 5 games in 2 years…. Along with 33 year old matey from Burnley. Have they become us of a few years ago?!

What’s happening up the A140? on 11:29 - Jun 9 with 6456 views | Metal_Hacker | I know the whole age thing is weird considering where they've been for the past few years in terms of using / buying younger players but those names mentioned by you and KK wouldn't come cheap in terms of wage surely ? It's a prime example of false economy (if they don't perform) but if they light the world on fire their experience may be worth it Who knows ? Who cares ?

What’s happening up the A140? on 11:35 - Jun 9 with 6400 views | BlueBlood90 | Jack Stacey from Bournemouth is only 27 years old isn't he? Ashley Barnes is obviously getting on but he has great promotion experience, good leadership qualities and he's an underrated target man. I don' think he's a bad signing for them. Tom Ince is also looking likely to sign for them too. He's one of those players who either turns up and plays brilliantly or absolutely s**t whenever I've seen him. I don't think they're signings which would overly concern us and no where near the type of quality they've looked to buy in recent years.

What’s happening up the A140? on 12:08 - Jun 9 with 6157 views | Bent_double | It smacks of a management team who have run out of ideas and hope that by signing 3 or 4 'proven' quality Championship players, that will be enough to get them through the season. It might work, it might - hopefully - go horribly wrong, as the number of games and fitness/injuries take their toll. Experience will obviously count for something, but I hope with our younger, fitter squad, we will run rings around them in both games.

If he stays fit, Barnes is a very good championship signing.

Don’t think it’s anything to do with running out of ideas personally. It’s more likely that they’re running out of parachute payments and are having to cut their cloth accordingly. Delia is not a rich owner by football standards so they’re going to shop in the bargain basement until they can sell someone for big bucks.

What’s happening up the A140? on 12:42 - Jun 9 with 5933 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | I actually think they have made some solid signings. Ashley Barnes is a still a good championship striker. Their squad really needed experience. The issue for them is do they have the finances to be able to make a couple of marquee signings to make them automatic challengers again. That remains to be seen.

What’s happening up the A140? on 13:17 - Jun 9 with 5764 views | SomethingBlue | Wouldn't get too cocky about them yet, those are two great pros who know the leagues. Barnes in particular won't be starting weekly but will add tonnes to the group. They lacked heads like that last season. Norwich still have the resources, infrastructure and in some cases the brains to sort things out next season and anyone who writes them off might end up looking a bit silly I fear.

Yeah. Best to see how it pans out. As much as I'd love to believe they've signed some ineffective mercenaries who care little about the club and will fail to deliver, Norwich always seem to luck out season upon season, last term aside. I've fully expecting these signings will typically be the amazing characters and key experience they need to transform them because I simply cannot believe they are finally on their way down and set to be an average Championship side or worse for an extended period.

I think Barnes & Stacey are good signings for them. Not so sure on Duffy though.

My posting history would prove I’ve never done anything but almost respect the way they are run and fair play to them for that. The signings seem very ‘not Norwich’ that’s my only observation on it

What’s happening up the A140? on 14:26 - Jun 9 with 5247 views | itfcsuth | Jack Stacey is a good player - ironically in a position they already have strong options at though Aarons and Bali Mumba! I've repeated myself on Barnes on here before - he scored only a handful of goals in one of the most creative Championship sides ever, that's a concern within itself - I know he is a handful and has more to his game - but they are trying to replace Pukki who was just a natural goal scorer. Ince and Duffy - the most unlikely of Norwich signings in the past 6/7 years - Marcus Evans type of signings. [Post edited 9 Jun 2023 14:36]

What’s happening up the A140? on 15:01 - Jun 9 with 5115 views | jayessess | Or you could see it as them signing: - a 31-year-old with 55 Ireland caps - a striker who played more often than not for last year's title winners - an attacking midfielder who was the main reason Reading almost stayed up even with a points deduction - another centre back who played a lot in a title-winning Championship team. Like us bringing in Aluko, Keogh, even Morsy and Ladapo, a lot of the time you just want someone at a certain level with good experience and ability. Not every transfer can be about "return on investment". [Post edited 9 Jun 2023 15:02]

I hear what you’re saying, and agree. Their signings just seem a different approach to the norm for them. Maybe I’m wrong

I’m convinced it’s down to money. Historically they’ve spent based on parachute payments and significant sales ie the likes of Maddison and Buendia. The parachute payments have gone and they don’t have the same level of saleable assets that they’ve had in the past. Even if Aarons moves on, they’ll get nowhere near what they would have got 2 or 3 years ago. Their recruitment reflects this imo. The wheel is turning. It’s our time to shine over them.

Just a trouble? He'd literally take a piss out of us during the 6-0 defeat at Blackpool and beat us on his own. Jewell after that game resolved to abandon his 'long-term' plans and went for bringing in new loanees to replace the loanees we already had. What a calamity this useless clown was. The mess he caused at the club was beyond apprehension.
