His Ipswich career was ended by a nobody who lasted 5 minutes- no wonder he’s annoyed

Come on, Joe, you’re better than that.

To be honest, I don’t blame him at all for having a dig. We’re all human. I would probably have reacted the same way if it was me.

I understand it. But I just don’t like it. Kicking a man when he is down is just the ultimate d**khead move. All it’s done is lower Chambers’ colours for me. Which is a shame but I really thought he was better than that.

But as a loyal servant he has every right to be biter at the manner in which he was released

He was well paid while he was here and was part of the poorest team we’ve had for more than 65 years.

The manner of his leaving may not have been well handled, but he and the others needed to go.

He should be concentrating on trying to play for a Div 4 team a bit harder

‘Nobody’. In one word there you’ve confirmed a lot. I get it. You always had it in for Cook because of knowing Chambers in the real world. I just wonder why you had to pretend to be impartial when it was pretty obvious you didn’t like him, no matter how much you suggested otherwise.

Chambo comes across a bit of a knob with his toilet confession when out for dinner and now this tweet.

Its a shame but perhaps he wasn't the best man to lead our team especially when we were struggling. I liked Chambo when he was here but maybe i've mis-judged his character

If anything it kind of suggests Chambers is far from professional, and perhaps was long overdue to be replaced as club captain. This is a poor form on Chambers if you ask me, especially as he was as much to blame as anyone for us collapsing.

His Ipswich career was ended because he wasn't good enough , even with this squads failures, and wouldn't be in the future. Age catches up with us all. You need to separate your mates v football posts.

Given many people including me criticised Cook for losing his rag in public because all it did was harm Cook, exactly the same can be said about Chambers and his cheap comment.

If Cook’s a nobody what does that make Chambers? Cook did more as a player than Chambers ever did, including playing in the PL.

Cook has been successful as a manager until this club employed him. If Chambers ever gets close in management to what Cook has achieved, I’ll be very surprised.

Sorry Joe, I can’t agree with you on this one.

A nobody, who won league titles with Chesterfield, Portsmouth and Wigan you mean? He's gone! We know you're mates with Chambo, fair enough.. buy you can hardly call Cook a nobody, just coz he binned your mate off..

After originally saying he would stay, he is allowed to change his mind.. I loved Chambo! But he was part of the steady decline of the club.. there's no disputing that..

You could argue Hurst was a nobody, but not Cook, with his track record.. he has been successful wherever he has been..

In fairness, his Ipswich career consisted of a couple of decent seasons under MM.
He subsequently hung around like a cloying bout of wind, lauded by the uninitiated as some sort of club linchpin.
The fact his name sits on the Player of the Season list alongside some absolute legends continues to irk me greatly.
Still, you and your missus fed him some pasta and a spotted dick and declared him a top bloke, so enjoy your moment in the sun and be sure to text him our undying gratitude for his contribution to nothing whatsoever.

He and Wards performances last year, from our senior, ‘leader’, players was nothing short of abysmal

I rate Chambo as a person and leader

I do not blame him for being put to right back and getting skinned regularly in the championship

He DID put in great performances in League One

But overall his final 3 seasons were overall very poor, a new contract it did not deserve

We all defend people we feel an affiliation with so can't see why Joe would be any different.

Understandable if you know someone on a more personal basis that you're going to see their view.

I don't know either Chambers or Cook and as such feel nothing in particular towards either, but have been a bit taken aback at times at some of the attitudes towards some ex-players.

Certainly Chambers time was up here, as was Skuse's, Sears, and a few others.

But Cook didn't exactly shower them with respect when he made his changes and was bold in his 'demolition man' persona. Those were his words after all.

I can't see a problem with anyone giving a bit back personally, as the other was happy to revel in it.

Bear in mind Cook will have earned enough money in his short time here to buy a row of houses so the lines about pitying a man who has lost his job don't really wash.

Seemed a pleasant enough guy but he didn't fulfil our needs. I'm more concerned about Town than his feelings right now.

I agree with most of what you say, but I see a problem in that it doesn’t have to be done and only reflects on the person saying it. It’s the kind of stuff that could put off an employer wanting Chambers in the future. It’s only a comment, I know, but little things like this serve no purpose and can bite back.

Express feelings in private to friends, fine, but not on social media. This is exactly the problem I had with Cooks demolition man loose mouth nonsense and going generally bananas after the Northampton and Wimbledon games. He just made his own job harder, which was daft.

I do not pity Cook. As I’ve said previously, he could have no complaints. He made far too many mistakes. As for his feelings, that wasn’t what my comment was about. Like you, I don’t know Cook, but I’m sure he’s old and ugly enough to know the score and will move on wealthier than he was this time last year.

Yes, it’s all about what the club does now.

In summary, both Chambers and Cook deserve not to be here now which is where we are.

Let’s see who we get next.

Manning is interesting as would be someone like Michael Carrick, who would also have some great connections for players.
