Here's a thread I don't think's been done - if you had to clone 1 Ipswich player 11:09 - Dec 10 with 2793 views | The_Flashing_Smile | to play every position, so 11 clones, who would it be? I'd go for Johnny Wark. The midfield and defensive Warkys would be superb, obviously, but the forward Warkys would also score a fair few. We'd be great at taking and scoring from corners, and penalties too. The only downside I can see is we wouldn't be particularly pacy on the wings, and the goalkeeper Warky would be fairly rubbish... although hopefully the rest of the team would be so good it wouldn't matter so much.

Here's a thread I don't think's been done - if you had to clone 1 Ipswich player on 11:54 - Dec 10 by Herbivore | This is the correct answer. |
I remember his two-goal triumph upfront. But also, for those old enough to remember, Mick Mills played rightback and left and as what we'd probably now call a No8 as well as having a decent shot on him with either foot.

I don't remember him being about for ages, but when I saw him thought he was a great all round player, but still had a bit of flair. Also Just looked and he was at Town when Jeffers and Roberts were here And He's assistant coach at Monaco now...who'd have thought that!

Mariner is a great shout, I had first thought of Warky but I reckon Mariner might shade it. Mmmm, dunno now, difficult. I suppose Wark, Mariner and Beattie stand out - and possibly Bramble (awaits abuse)

Here's a thread I don't think's been done - if you had to clone 1 Ipswich player on 12:00 - Dec 10 by clive_baker | Wark is a good shout. Holland would do well, could obviously do a good job in the middle, an all rounder, but probably half decent up top too and would put a shift in defensively. Not sure how he would do against a couple of big front men though. Went in goal against Oxford once and did OK. |

A left and a right one, merge them together to produce a midfielder with two legs the same length. No built up boot and a happier Glenn. Alternatively, I give you Paul Mariner. Also would give very articulate interviews. ( I think he’s an excellent pundit on BBC Essex. Has no annoying verbal tics or mannerisms , is knowledgeable about local football , and can criticize players or managers without sounding unkind. )

Russell Osman is the most complete footballer I have ever seen play for Ipswich. Always got the impression he was a defender because he wanted to be and could quite as easily have played anywhere else if he put half a mind to it. Saw him in one of those legends games a while back and he played in the middle and was the best player on the pitch by far.
