Which is why he's a good signing for someone that I'd wager won't start with the shirt.

I wouldn't be so sure. He's the kind of focal point McKenna has been talking about. He may actually help our 2x number 10's play better as he'll enable us to play even higher up the pitch with an aerial threat as well as speed in behind.

Doesn’t look like the 20 goal striker we desperately need. However he does seem a decent signing and a good addition to the squad.

He was suggested on here and most people in the thread said he wasn't anywhere near good enough for what we need. Will be interesting to see what happens

What that boils down to is that 5 people said "no" & another 2 were muted - all on the basis of him being too old to be our sole signing and main striker.

He won't be, KM & Gamechanger will also be bringing other younger strikers in (no, they haven't told me, it's obvious).

Er, ok. Wasn’t expecting that and a bit surprised we’ve not gone for potential. But someone who’s been round the block may help in handling the pressure of being favourites. Can’t say I remember him playing against us, but that’s not surprising as nurse has to remind me what day it is.

Welcome Freddie!

I remember him being a big, awkward handful when we've played Rotherham. Could well be what we need - a lower tier version of Alan Lee.

Their fans seem unanimously happy he's left. Obviously could be sour grapes he's rejected them etc. Sheff Wed tried to buy him in Jan

Just been chatting with my Millers mate about Ladepo.
Yes they really don’t like him. Apparently he downed tools when Griggs came in on loan and replaced him. Put in a transfer request and allegedly sulked when no one came in for him.
Got dropped from the squad by Warne as he wasn’t pulling his weight. Plymouth fans have also commented on similar characteristics when with them.
He’ll score ten but miss twenty.
Personally I think he will be a good signing. Definitely has the athletic profile that McKenna is looking for and what I think is needed for this division.

Freddie is a great finisher. One of the best around. No way will he ever be a lone striker. Make of it what you will. It suggests to me that we will shortly sign a great partner for him. Happy days.

Good point about the physicality required for L1. We were kinda highlighting that for most of the season!

Wow where did that come from!?

Very happy with this signing. He is a good player. He will score more goals in an Ipswich team than a Rotherham one. Delighted with this, always liked him.

Not sure what to make of this really. A decent signing on paper given he is free but sounds like he could be a disruptive force and you have to think we’ll still be going for our main striker. If he is comfortable not being the main man then fair enough but we’ll just have to see how it goes!

Or do you play Ladapo and Chaplin up top? Chaplin likes playing off a bigger man?

Based on the highlights reel looks like he can do a bit of everything, poach, beat a man but most importantly get his head on it in the box.

How many headers did we score last season? Definitely felt like we missed and aerial presence and does look like he brings the physicality. Time will tell,

Decent goal tally last couple seasons. Hopefully an upgrade on Piggott.

My nan would be an upgrade on Piggot. And she's dead.

He played alongside Micheal Smith the last three seasons, so not sure he has ever been the main man.

Looks a decent player to me, and someone who looks like they’ll thrive off of Burns’ deliveries into the box

Agreed. It also looks like he has the ability and strength to create chances himself, by taking on and beating defenders from central positions, something that we haven't had in a striker for some time.

If Mckennas happy… so am I

I agree with this. Hardly a ‘wow’ signing and I don’t remember him. Looks a handful for this level and his goals/games ratio looks ok. Yep, let’s trust KM and hope that he fits what we need with more to come.

What is really good is the sign that the club wants to get the squad sorted out as soon as possible.

He's the perfect replacement for Norwood really, the poacher in the pack. At 6'2 he will also provide some much needed aerial threat.

And hopefully, will be fit and sober more frequently.

Good signing for goals

Bad signing for a harmonious dressing room.

Fell out with both his last two clubs, and insiders at Argyle regard him as toxic. Downed tools in a relegation struggle at a club that rescued him from Southends reserves!

Got promoted at Rotherham and then fell out with other teammates when relegated ( good press article on this recently).

Don't get me wrong...good player, but not a team player.

I'll see how the season goes, he's won two promotions, so perhaps he's got more of a winning attitute and I've heard a few say "he thinks a lot of himself".

Whilst i'm not suggesting he's in the same in ability, but Thierry Henry was quite arrogant and upset the dressing room a fair bit, but when on the pitch, he took that arrogance and belief and turned it on the opposition.

He doesn't have to get on with everyone, but one or two 'oddities' in a team don't derail when the rest of the team are aligned and see the benefits of such a player to the overall picture.

Let's just remember this is all hearsay though, he could be fine and Ashton is very much on the side of personalities to fit the team/club so will have done his research.

I like the signing, athletic, tall, offers something different.

I get that - fans attitudes to players change all the time ( remember how we all raved about Bonne for a few months, but mostly agreed he wasn’t the player we needed by the end of the season) but I’d be interested to know what they thought of Lapado before he ‘downed tools’.

Let's not forget we had this when Bakinson came in, Brizzle fans we pretty much stating the exact same thing, sulking should he not play on his own terms - even Pearson said that about him.

We never once had saw evidence of Bakinson being any sort of disruption to the squad harmony.

McKenna really does seem to bring a squad unity here, and seems able to get everybody to buy in to that whether they are starting the games or from the bench.

Let's judge him for his actions here, not with previous clubs.
