Just to be clear, are you suggesting that Moore, the scorer of 5 in 7 and general menace to defenders shouldn't be starting?
Al-Hamadi looks great but I don't expect him to be starting if Moore (or Hirst) are fit.

When Moore needs a break or can't play?
Early signs are that Al Hamadi has a bright future here but this is about promotion. I understand the desire to see him unleased from the start but he's a victim of (and an asset to) our current success. [Post edited 5 Mar 2024 14:08]

Listening to McKenna recently he was asked if players knock on his door very often and he indicated that they do occasionally. He went on to say that every player that signs on is told how he will be used and that he's part of a squad. It's understandable for a player to want to start but then as others have pointed out when Moore has scored five in seven you can hardly leave them out. | | | |

I think that reduces his ability to be able to create havoc from the bench which is what he's done really effectively when comes on. If he starts with Moore who do have who can do that as a 9 option? | |

It's amazing what injuries do to our memories, I like Hirst but he seems to be getting better in people's minds
His running off the ball and work rate is really good but I'm not convinced his end product is as good as Moore's, he's certainly not as dominant in the air
Not that he's a bad player by any means
In terms of pace, flair and technical ability. I'd place Al-Hamadi above both, ideally he will work as a partner to either of them at times
I agree with others that he could even play as a 10, drifting down the left at times, if we were willing to give that a go at some stage

Rather an argue that Hirst is getting better in people's minds I think he's just getting worse in your mind.
With Hirst it wasn't all about end product, he made space for others and that's why Broadhead and Chaplin raced to 8 or 9 goals when he was playing.
Even stranger to suggest Al-Hamadi is going to partner either given we haven't really played 2 up top for any of the time McKenna has been in charge.
He could play as a 10 but we have 4 or 5 of those already who play that position. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that is where he ends up for us though.
He's going to be quality for us but this rush to fit him in isn't right either - he's doing fine.
