The elephant in the room 12:26 - Feb 16 with 6086 views | ITFCMonk | Hearing a few whispers about City getting all these points deducted. Are we seriously considering a scenario where if we are still in the relegation zone we might stay up because of a City points deduction?

We are 27 points behind them at the moment. It would have to be at least 45 points for us to have a chance of finishing above them I reckon
They'd probably need.... on 12:35 - Feb 16 with 5124 views | Bloots | ....to be docked about 45 points for it to effect us. I still can't see it happening. Their legal team seem to keep kicking the arse of the Premier League. The only hope is that the PL are getting embarrassed so decide to really stick it to them, but I suspect it'll go to appeal and drag on and then get halved or at least reduced so that they stay up.

The elephant in the room on 13:12 - Feb 16 with 4787 views | Pinewoodblue | Think it is possible the initial deduction would lead to relegation but we all know that on appeal they will manage to stay up. We are staying up, we are staying up whatever happens to City.

Who is this mate and is there any reason to give his opinion any weight?

The elephant in the room on 13:16 - Feb 16 with 4726 views | Mullet | While it would be amazing for us in terms of the long term future of the club, I canât imagine any scenario where it sticks. The Prem et al. are scared of the City owners just bleeding them out financially with lawyers and the like. It shouldnât be that way, cheering should be punished and if City donât want to abide by the ruling they should be ejected with no recourse. Supposedly all the evidence is there and City have just stick their fingers up at it all. Given the days where Serie A just relegated teams seem like a lifetime ago itâs a shame the same hasnât happened here.

The elephant in the room on 14:30 - Feb 16 with 4198 views | RegencyBlue | I wouldnât be banking on that! IF something like that happens, and itâs a big IF, it will be appealed straight away and depending what happens there will probably end up with City taking the PL to court. It will drag on for years if it gets that far and the PL doesnât fold first.

He's a broadsheet reading football obsessive, isn't prone to making up nonsense, and wasn't joking. If I wanted to know anything football-based, he'd be the one out of all my mates I'd ask. So it seemed especially weird that he'd entertain something so outlandish (to me). But no real weight to it other than that.

The elephant in the room on 15:33 - Feb 16 with 3770 views | vilanovablue | Kieran Maguire a respected football journalist when it comes to finances says that they could get a huge deduction. He also thinks the board of directors would be forced to resign. This is similar to what happened at Juventus.
The elephant in the room on 15:40 - Feb 16 with 3691 views | pointofblue | As said, they'll just tie the Premier League up in litigation. Any punishment will then be pushed back to next season at the earliest whilst the appeal etc. goes through. It's ridiculous it's taken this long when Forest and Everton were, it felt like, punished the day after their accounts were released.

The elephant in the room on 16:48 - Feb 16 with 3286 views | ringwoodblue | Even if Citeh get a points deduction, it wonât affect who gets relegated but could jeopardise their chances of qualifying for Europe. Thereâs more chance of the red side of Manchester being relegated.

Their legal team are kicking the arse of the Premier League if you believe the very vociferous briefings being amplified from certain quarters â but not if you survey the detail.

Appealed to what authority? Citeh could take them to court but on what grounds? The punishment shouldn't stand or is too big? If the other 19 Premier League clubs agree that the punishment is sound then there is nothing (NOTHING) that Citeh can do.

Genuine question as I've often wondered, why do some on here and elsewhere refer to them as Citeh? It doesn't work as an insult or as a vaguely amusing quip. It just seems odd, is it a football hipster thing?

Its a mancunian pronunciation. Think of one of the Gallagher scruffs. [Post edited 16 Feb 19:20]

Thing is, it was really easy to punish Forest and Everton. They submit accounts that breach the rules and they put those breaches in black and white (well technically red ink). They then plead guilty for expediency. Meanwhile City are accused of lying and falsifying information. Much harder to prove, plus city are fighting tooth and nail to try and break the PLs determination, plus there will be government lobbying by the UAE in the same way that Saudi lobbies around buying Newcastle and the Qatari state lobbies France with regards to PSG.
