Is it wrong to feel in two minds about this?

I appreciate (and am usually fully behind) BA's attempts at creating an atmosphere, but I understand that there is also a sentiment in some quarters that this did more harm than good last time out against Norwich.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

They wanted it last time, and ended up completely over-hyped for the game.

And could and probably should have been 4 - 0 up at half-time

They played well and were unlucky

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Call me miserable but feels unnecessary on this occasion & I'm surprised the club are so keen to do it after the whole beer-can incident (although Delia is a berk for going the route she did).

The players will know the importance before hand and even more so once they get into PR and hear the atmosphere, this just feels a bit OTT and has massive potential to backfire on us.

Miserable.

Well it worked so well last time didn't it...oh wait it completely over excited everyone and by the time the actual game came round our players were a bit over awed by the occasion.

And HMS P the league floundered a bit and everyone said post that game that greeting the bus thing doesn't help, the players need focus on the pitch.

The only thing it will help is if I turn up at normal pre match kick off time there won't be a queue to get in like normal, and the pubs will be blissfully empty of idiots getting drunk on 2 pints of Madri or Cruzcampo before lunchtime

So im all for it ;)

I wouldn't be joining in anyway even if id been minded to, because im going to the cemetery to pay respects to my Dad on the anniversary of his death before the game. Someone once said footballs is more important than matters of life and death

I can assure you in matters of life and death, football doen't feel very important at all.

Wouldn't it be far better for Blue Action to greet the Norwich coach with all the chanting and blue smoke flares etc.
Give it to them big style

I suppose rolling hand grenades under the Budgie coach is too much ?

Not really, we should have been ahead by about 4-0 inside the first 10 minutes.

For some odd reasons, getting over-excited is frowned upon by some on here. Sod that - stating that our players got overawed is complete and utter codswallop.

I want flares, smoke bombs, bog rolls flying all over the stands, newspaper cut up and thrown and people going absolutely mental.

The Derby is not a time to be sensible or to lower our expectations - complete bollox.

Coach greeting - why it is a good thing on 13:42 - Sep 30 by Bobbychase

We have done it three times, v Exeter (won 6-0 and got promoted), Huddersfield (won 2-0 and got promoted) and Norwich (drew 2-2 but had Broadhead been able to finish we would have been 3-0 up at half time).

So firstly let us put a stake through the heart of this idea that it somehow affects the team's performance, there is zero evidence to back that up. Plus we know from the Burns/Morsy video that the players love it.

Secondly, unless you have been down to one, I don't think you can appreciate how nice an event it is for people who AREN'T able to get a ticket for the match but can come down from other parts of the town and feel part of the event.

Thirdly, if you don't like it don't go. Nobody is forcing you to. Stay in the pub.

Fourthly - "it makes us look like idiots". Only in your mind. Liverpool, Celtic, Rangers and many other smaller European clubs do it before big matches, and the derby is always the biggest home game of any season.

Fair play to Blue Action for ignoring the naysayers and organising it again.
[Post edited 30 Sep 13:45]

Well I was on the fence but I think that's a good argument, also if the players want it then fair enough, that alone should mean we do it..

Fantastic, the crowd needs to be bang at it, we also need to 'greet' their coach too.

Having rested half the team tonight we simply have to win this now and put an end to this nonsense that has gone on far too long. Not just a win but a statement win needed to shut them up once and for all.

I mean it seems a little OTT to me but ultimately I don't really care as long as we 'walk the walk' this time and actually stuff them on the pitch!

I'd always wondered whether with his focus on routines, etc whether he found it a bit of a distraction even if some of the players have previously said they loved it. Like you say - he was unequivocal on his support for it and what it meant to the staff and players.

One thing worse than a coach welcome is a half-arsed coach welcome, so I hope those able show support and add to the numbers.

And we made an electric start last time out. Imo it was one of our best first halves under McKenna, let down by the finishing & one piece of defending.

We absolutely pissed all over them in that game and they got incredibly lucky at both ends of the pitch.

As much as us football fans tend to become superstitious when it comes to football, the cold hard laws of probability have a 93% chance of ensuring that doesn't happen again. That's a fact.

Absolutely this. We had this worry in the crucial game in L1 when we did similar and that worked out perfectly.

Against Norwich it didn't have a negative impact. We were far the superior team that day.

This is good. The players will see what it means and like Mckenna was talking about the game being an opportunity to build bonds this is another element to that. This is the stuff the players remember and brings them together.

Don't panic a out this sort of thing. McKenna gets their mind focussed. This is good.

The first one before the Exeter game was a bit of a "let's go down there and see what this is all about" vibe but the last two have involved thousands of people to the extent you have to get down there very early to have a view of the coach.

It definitely did more harm than good last time out. We were absolutely flying and norwich were in the mud at the time of the 2-2 draw. Probably made our lads nervous and woke their underperformers up.

I think it's a great idea if we are struggling in the league. Not so sure about this time around, we are hardly setting the league on fire but they are on a terrible run themselves so it might spur them on. Very split on it
