Robson's teams didn't have the dominance this team have displayed. There's a huge chasm between his achievements and where we are right now, but it is closing by the game. Nice to see Freddie remind everyone he's still around, Ipswich V players definitely want to be A players. Good healthy competition.

Frankly, I've got to the stage now where I'm half expecting Graham Chapman to turn up in a Colonel's uniform telling us to stop as it's all getting silly. Absolutely bonkers.

Oh I don't know Pendejo. We'd often roll teams over both home and away under Robson - quite often we were untouchable. Not taking anything away from KM because what we are seeing is something special.

I witnessed those years. The second half of 1979/80 and much of 1980/81, we absolutely dominated most teams. In 1980/81 we didn’t lose until November at Brighton (I actually went to the Goldstone that day and it was one of the poorest performances of the season despite only being 1-0) But although it’s a lower level and a different time, there is something very special about this team. I can’t explain it. They have an aura and a discipline to them that’s just different. I watched some of the pre match kick about on Saturday. The Blackburn players were in groups doing different things, including David Lowe doing a very intense pass and shoot routine in front of me. Others were dossing about, others doing something else. Our lot up the other end and none looked to be wasting a minute. Even as they walked back to the tunnel, they looked ‘on it’. Professional. I hope it’s not just me getting over excited and swallowing the hype, but I think there’s something going on here. It’s more than just momentum.

The similarity, for me, lies in the simple fact that under Robson....no one wanted to play us. It now feels the same under KM. We're like a prize fighter no one wants to touch.

23 wins from our last 26 games on 23:01 - Sep 26 with 3609 views | The_Romford_Blue | When I used to post ‘BELIEVE!’ after every game years ago because we’d scrapped for a 1-1 draw at Barnsley or something.. this was what I was hoping we’d one day become. Football is swings and roundabouts and after having 20 years of sh*t supporting Ipswich all my life, I did always one day hope and wonder when it would be our time. This is it. These next 10 years are going to be white wonderful. Trophy wins, promotions, premier league football, european football. The lot. I don’t even care that it sounds nuts right now. It will happen. It will. All of it. BELIEVE!

To add to that next time the HT whistle goes watch all our players sprint off the pitch to get rest/refreshment/team talk vs the other team that will just walk off. It happens every game.

It’s mad to reflect that in the league, the only sides who’ve avoided defeat against us since 18 February are a former Premier League team and the current bottom two teams in League One, one of whom is still waiting to score their first league goal of the season.

maybe someone needs to write a press article saying that McKenna is actually a bit 'meh' and needs to stay at Ipswich at least 10 years to really prove himself

I'm like a big kid at the minute in terms of I feel exactly how I did under SBR when I was 10. Never expected to lose, always thought we'd win against anyone we played. Definitely didn't feel that way in 92 or 00, although 00/01 had elements of it. You don't go on a run like we have without having something special going on, that connection between everything at a club which just takes you to a different level. I just laugh when I see other teams fans saying that we'll fall off a cliff soon. How? Why? You would need 4-5 serious injuries to stop this momentum, and even then I'd back KMc to set us up in a way to still make us competitive. We're on our way back and nothing is gonna stop us.

This is what is impressing me (the bit about Ladapo); players who may not be starting that many matches look hungry when they come into the team and determined to impress, rather than sulk or agitate for a move. Lots of credit to both the playing squad and the management staff for that. It is clearly a happy place at the moment. Hopefully the great morale that is evident will remain when we hit a rocky patch (which will happen sooner or later, inevitably).

I'm starting to think we won't really hit a rocky patch. Draw/lose a game here or there perhaps but not any sort of sustained blip. This whole squad just gets better and better everyday they work with McKenna and the coaches here. This is the sort of momentum that Norwich and Southampton channelled previously - a winning machine that doesn't know what losing looks like.

On that one, let's see – we will lose a couple in a row at some point, probably quite soon because it's the Championship, and how we respond to that will I think give the best measure of any promotion credentials because we haven't really been in that position under McKenna.

23 wins from our last 26 games on 10:06 - Sep 27 with 2607 views | OldFart71 | For a change I didn't keep track of last night's game and said to my wife I expect we have lost as we were playing a Premier League side. Imagine my surprise and delight that we were winning and had then won. I do think if we could tighten up at the back then we would be Premier League contenders. We aint always going to score 3 or 4 goals. I suppose it's the downside of having fully attacking full backs. Mills and Burley were great at going forward, but were better at defending. Some are comparing us to the great side Sir Bobby had. I think we are way short of that side. There was absolute class throughout the team and only Paul Cooper who wasn't an International and we won an F.A. Cup, EUFA Cup and should, but for injuries have won the League. That's in no way taking anything away from McKenna or the current side. Just to say both have a fair way to go before they can say we are as good and have achieved as much as Sir Bobby's team.

The drop off in away form from December to February last year - four points from 18 - is the closest thing to a blip under McKenna. Lots of common factors to those matches, small pitches, aggressive and limited opponents raising their game but we had some consistent failings then, the slowness of the Morsy-Evans partnership in particular. Without a default option to go back to - MM would have worked on being solid first, Jewell just chucked everything up in the air - we kept doing what McK wanted us to do. It took a gritty away win at MK Dons to change that dynamic so I would expect us to do similar.
