Isn't it basically impossible to get permits for players from abroad now (at this sort of level) due to Brexit? So we have a far smaller pool than if we had been implementing this a few years ago.

....updating the IT systems from DOS to Microsoft Windows.

This will be a major step forward in our ability to compete at the highest level.

Plus don't forget that following Cole Skuse's guided tour a couple of weeks back, we also have a drinks fridge.

This means that players can get a cold drink just by opening the door and taking one out.

What. A. Club.

I suppose it’s a bit interesting that the press release alludes to a lot of players being let go this summer..? Joe convinced me the other day we should keep Chambers but everyone else out of contract needs to go.

They better learn to play football in the next few weeks if they don't want that to be the case. Bunch of wet noodles.

As a result they signed Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll.

It's only positive if it's implemented and funded correctly.

If it's done on the cheap as most things with us then it won't work and is just more noise trying to quieten down the fans.

After all how much of Evans' video before the Hurst appointment has come to fruition?

None of it. This type of hype always starts around the time they are looking at ST renewals.

We should already have a handle on who the best players in this division are, we've been in it 2 years now. We should be keeping tabs on them all. If the club has only just got round to finding out this sort of thing then there really is no hope.

Surely Steve Pearce or anyone with half a PR brain at the club's media department would have thought: "hang on guys, should we really be shouting from the rooftops about an approach to the top two tiers has adopted long before now?"

I literally dealt with a second-tier National League club last week who have been working like this for over a year and never felt the need to grandly proclaim it.

I remember in my previous job that the CEO was always amused when he met some of the older scouts and recruitment people who saw absolutely no value in data.

Meanwhile Man City were getting a daily extract of basically everything and had an in house development team.

The funny thing to me is that none of this cost a lot compared to just a week or two players wages, but the potential windfalls are massive. I could never quite understand why everyone wasn't doing it.

If you buy someone for £1million and sell them on for £5million you've basically funded the department for a whole decade.

I mean this is taken as a given for most clubs, it's a bit embarrassing that the club think this is something that should be announced on social media platforms like it's some new innovation we've just come up with.

I'm reminded of working for a large national charity who proudly announced their first ever impact report a few years ago... about ten years after most others started doing this.

Nobody is doing that, people are just criticising a pretty silly club statement.

Many thanks.
