Embarrassed and a bit ashamed of the club today 19:47 - Mar 23 with 20458 viewsNutkins_Return

I'm sure I'll get a bit of 'i'm overreacting' downvotes but genuinely feel disgusted and embarrassed that reform our being hosted at our club. Personally don't think the club should be getting involved in anything with a political leaning to it from any party. But to host reform, and that cretinous toad Farage has really shocked me.
That's bad judgement and and Ashton has just sunk down massively in my estimation for allowing this.

Someone needs sacking for that lack of judgement. I hope Ashton didn't know about this (impossible) and apologises.

Gross.

"Dunno club just say they didn’t want to run the risk of an incident, vandalism, threats etc by hosting fascists"

Yeah like they are going to come out and say that....

Its weird, all I think is Reform hired a room at the ground for a meeting (clearly not the main one which is this evening) and did what Reform do by making a bit of a song and dance about it on X.

And then as per, it seems that everyone loses their minds.

Rooms are hired out daily, Norwich do the same as Ive had the misfortune of being there loads of times.

Is it really that deep ?

(And no, I dont support Reform, or like Farage)

They definitely tweeted it like that to give the impression they were doing something like that rally at PR.

Keep politics out of our sport. Don't care if it's Green, Labour, Tory, Reform. Just keep all of it out.

This site never ceases to amaze me with such subjects. All I can think is people only find it worthwhile posting if they agree with the post on sensitive subjects. The thoughts of the average person down the pub etc is much different, clearly backed up by the fact reform are clear favourites for the next election. Once again I wouldn’t dare give my opinions/side on something like this in such a place. And I guess it’s the fact people don’t want to go against a post like this that all comments are those agreeing despite that not being the norm in the wider public.

I think it's perfectly acceptable for an organisation like a football club, with a fan base to consider, to say no on the grounds of having a policy not to host political meetings/events. Whilst I consider Reform to represent the absolute lowest of human morals and decency. I equally would accept others to have the same view on having Labour or the conservatives onsite.

Gutted about it. Don't feel like going again this season i detest Farage that much. Appreciate that's on me.i don't want racist/fascists anywhere near our club. Anyone who doesn't think that's what he is are completely kidding themselves. He has a rotten history if people care to look.

Similar. We are knowingly hosting a fascist organisation.

😂😂😂

Don’t want to support my football club because someone I don’t like booked their facilities.

1. I didn't say I wouldn't support I just said I don't feel like going again this season.
2. It's not like it's a comedian I don't like. It's probably the single most dangerous organisation to the country in decades who have the potential to impact our country massively like as has happened in the US. As I say it matters however much you want to belittle it.

Reform are currently leading in the polls. We are in 2026 and the next election may not be until 2029. Reform is slipping in the polls as it faces more scrutiny. Also between elections its not uncommon to see protest votes giving a surge to a party.
I personally think that when we get to an election Reform will not be favourites to win most seats or form a government!
Its still a large majority of people in this country that don't want Reform anywhere near the Houses of Parliament!

Yes right now I don't feel like going, corect. The rest of what you have written is nonsense. As I said they should apply the same criteria to all parties and not have them using a football clubs facilities for political events. For the very reason of not dividing the fan base as has happened here causing extreme embarrassment. Norwich fans are all over this by the way a d plenty of other clubs fans. It's a really poor bit of PR for the club and that matters.

Your statement of democracy not being for me or not being a supporter is moronic and baseless.

I was ok until you said Norwich fans, in all my Town supporting years I have never given a f**k what Norwich fans think.

If the club had booked Mary Berry for an event, Norwich fans would be posting negative about it.

Actually I'm against politics/ football but if it is pissing off Norwich fans I hope Ashton has Farage at the club every week.

They didn't host a meeting or an event, Reform booked a tour. Can see both angles on why it should or shouldn't have been allowed. A big song and dance would no doubt have been made had they refused to allow them to do so.

Phil has clarified in the other thread that it wasn't the club 'hosting' them, more that Reform booked the facilities, which leaves the club in an awkward position. Accept the booking and they piss off some support, or cancel it and be sure that Reform will be all over the media about cancel culture etc.
[Post edited 23 Mar 19:58]

Not good enough, Phil needs to hold the club's feet to the fire over this as they have given Farage legitimacy in an institution at the very heart of our community.

Agree entirely. Politics and football is a total no no. This should not be happening. It should have been cancelled and having fartface photographed around the club will do the club no good at all.

Totally gross

If they booked themselves on a tour, then a big song and dance should be made about how Reform paid for their little jolly! Is this what their membership fees pay for when it should be going on electioneering!

Don’t feel like going again this season? They haven’t said no to any political party so would allow any party to do the same. Seems like a democracy isn’t for you or you’re not really a supporter.

This is a FOOTBALL CLUB not a polling station. Go and spout your views on question time or some Sunday rag, sport is not where it shoukd be ,what other club posts reform above their badge on Facebook??? Its f÷÷King disgusting.

What are you talking about. I didn’t bring the subject up, just said if there’s no restrictions on political party’s then anybody can hire the venue. And I certainly don’t have reform above our badge on facebook or whatever it is you’re talking about?

Host seems to indicate they invited them.

Unless I have missed it, the club didn't endorse any political party. They took a private booking, much like they do with 6th form proms and birthday parties.

I am sure there are plenty of season ticket holders all over the political spectrum that use the clubs facilities a few times a month!

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

The money from which will ultimately help strengthen all areas of the club including the ITFC Foundation and its initiatives such as Refugee Football. I'm sure their members would be proud to see their donations spent this way in helping support asylum seekers in our community.

I thought it was a wind up when I saw Mullet’s post. Fair enough if the club was to invite the local MP, but there’s no reason to host that toxic arsehole. Who’s next? Paul Golding, Nick Griffin? We could have a ‘guess the celebrity in the KKK outfit’ competition at half time. What laughs.

Edit- slightly less odious if it wasn’t the club hosting. We’ll still need to disinfect though!
