Ipswich have €22m bid turned down - Fotis Ioannidis 14:54 - Jun 15 with 47750 viewsburnbudgiesburn

Greek journo

Whats that? £18.5m?

Looks like a higher level George Hirst so stylistically would have fit but you never know if Towns name is gonna be linked by agents to bump the price or if its genuine.

That seems like the exact expensive and high risk signing we're not going to make.

Greek player of the year for the last 2 seasons , plays for a top Greek team and the national side, we're not going to bid 20m for a player as a risk! he must meet the strict criteria we look for in new transfers.
Obviously the story could be completely made up but I'd be happy with this kind of signing if Kieran is

24yr old International striker.

This is 'exactly' the type of player we'll be in for. An upgrade on what we have in that position with potential to improve and get a return on.

Looking at some of the videos of him he has some similiar attributes to Hirst with better close control and better ability to beat his man.

Really can't see it but as I said, I have been wrong.

We've seen plenty of strikers from abroad take a season to settle in. I don't think we will sign a player who would be our #1 striker at that price who hasn't played in the Prem before. Just a hunch. Not suggesting it wouldn't be exciting when you think of signing the likes of Rory Fallon, Stern John and Adam Proudlock!

Yes it was the close control that impressed me also he's quick and looks a big upgrade on Hirst IMO.

Hirst, i think, will be a big success this season. This feels like a lot of money for someone who has not played in this country and the intensity we play at. All sounds a bit Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.

agreed an interesting link, and not the lazy ones were used too, also i cant see it being an agent trying to up the price, why use a promoted side who not bought from the continent in years when you can use a brentford or WH, so much in this that adds credibility.

Good point.

£18.5m seems like it is close to the sort of limit we will pay so doubt this will go any further.

But it is interesting to see us looking in these markets after seemingly ignoring them for a few years.

Fantastic pedigree. £18.5 mil with that profile and record would be great business. As turned down will obviously cost more. If we could get him for close to £20 million would be fantastic business in my opinion.

Good size, age, style. Add to that he is likely a good team fit given captain. Lots of accolades and an international. Clearly scores and creates. Get it done.

He is not at the euros, so if we get him early he will have plenty of time to settle in and get game time in pre season

Good ball control and scores more than perhaps that show-reel suggests (22 in 40 games for club last season, all competitions). Also seems to have an eye for the cut-back, which is useful in our system.

Is £18.5m anywhere close to the limit? Could see us paying significantly more for the right man.

Edit: Especially given the premium for strikers.

Would be an incredible signing. He is a very very good player.

But highly unlikely given he has been touted as potential Gyokeres replacement.

Fulham and West Ham are rumoured to be interested in him too.
He looks good to me. Loves to take on defenders and got two good feet. Check out footage I linked. He'd definitely be a good addition to our squad.

That's an odd take. Not expensive for an international striker. There's an element of risk in any signing but don't see it particularly here. Good age, playing for a decent side, there's a lot to like. Gotta imagine that if there is truth in it McKenna will have sanctioned a bid.
