I get that they probably couldn’t ban Reform and not other parties, but at least add something along the lines of “ITFC reiterates that it stands firmly against all forms of racism, bigotry, hate and those that wish to divide us”. I’m not saying those exact words, I’m not a script writer, but surely something that leaves absolutely no doubt in any way that the club detests, at every level, what Reform and that c-unit farage stands for? Appreciate they’ve been put in an unenviable position, but they could have taken the statement a step further.

Nothing more needs to be said.

People need to get some perspective and go touch grass rather than engaging in this race to see who can express their outrage in the most dramatic terms.

No one with any sense wants Farage in power. I certainly won't vote for him but this has been blown out of all proportion.

Downvote me all you want. Get to minus three figures, there's a challenge for you.

that's easy..........;)

Pathetic.

How could you possibly begin to argue that this has anything to do with engaging with political representatives as part of the club's role in the community.

As someone else said, when has this ever happened before with another party? Why start now and with an individual who is at best controversial, but in the eyes of many utterly contemptible. Who wins here other than Farage? What a disastrous own goal.

I'm livid about this and so disappointed in ITFC.

not sure why anyone would downvote "No one with any sense wants Farage in power"?

maybe benters or pencil would take it as another egregious insult

You think this reflects well on the club?? If so you have very poor judgement. I would against the club doing this for any political leader. But for Reform...... I'll put this out there. I think Ashton is a closet supporter of Reform. Which undercuts all the diversity/community stuff that the club does so well. Ashton needs to be held accountable.

You have no evidence whatsoever to suggest Ashton is a ‘closet supporter of Reform’. None at all. He might be. He might even be a Corbynite. Who knows or cares as long as no favour is shown to any political party.

Paraphrasing, the club has said it engages with politicians across the spectrum as part of its place in the community. I personally detest the idea of the club engaging with politicians at all but if it does with one, it should do with them all. I just wish they wouldn’t.

I don’t even like this fawning around with the boxer Wardley let along snake oil salesmen. But unless the club has lied and nobody from other parties has ever visited the football club it was left between a rock and a hard place.

I’m not sure what more people wanted to hear. Resignations? Executions out the back? How about Gamechanger selling the club on? Would that make it right?

One of two things has happened here:

a) NF's mob were allowed to take photos and put them on social media on NF's account with the full knowledge of the club, who arranged several photo opportunities which would not normally be part of the "stadium tour" experience, had shirts printed etc; OR

b) NF has hijacked ITFC for his own ends but for some strange reason, ITFC are not making it clear that the use of the team's shirts, grounds etc etc does not imply endorsement by the club for NF.

At the moment, it looks like (a). And as supporters, we won't be allowed to forget this.

Ashton getting a signed shirt and you tell me no one knew?

Printing a dozen shirts with "FARAGE 10", trophies all out in the dressing room, pitch side professional video, whole Reform social media team and you tell me no one knew?

Now they come out with this kind of nonesuch statement only reinforces the fact that Ashton, Nash or certain people in the Club are Reform supporters and have no qualms in using the Club as a platform to promote their brand of politics.

The ITFC brand image is now being dragged through the mud and stomped upon.

Wearing a Town shirt, a shirt that many including myself have worn with pride for so long, is now being associated with right-wing neo-N@zi politics and racism? Pure embarrassment.

Ashton & Co. can all f00k off for all I care.

That's woeful tbh.

Today Reform have been using their visit to push their party - so much more than us "hosting representatives".

Struggling to conclude that Ashton wasn't aware of what's gone on, hence the pathetic statement that simply doesn't address the club allowing it's facilities to be used for political purposes.

If the club thinks that puts the issue to bed, I think they are mistaken. Feels like a car crash in terms of PR and nothing in that statement changes that imho.

Just completely baffling the club would allow this to happen

Why alienate a segment of your fan base and hurt the clubs reputation like this ?

When I’m next in a taxi down here I’m dreading someone say “oh Farages club” when I say I’m a town fan ….

Idiotic from the club and just wrong , flies in the face of the values of the club.

This doesn't cut it. How did he manage to get those photos in the dressing room with several Farage 10 ITFC shirts on the hangers, and why was he allowed to be photographed in the media suite with all the sponsors names behind him? He is a xenophobe and leads a racist party. It's a disgrace to see him photographed with what must have been an officially sanctioned visit. It's a massive own goal by the club, and until there is a proper explanation and apology, many fans will feel ashamed to wear ITFC merchandise.

I don't think I have ever been embarrassed to be an Ipswich fan before, today I am. What this has done is given a platform for people who think that the rhetoric of reform is ok at Ipswich.

I give it a couple games before our away ends are singing pro Farage songs. Will probably start at Norwich. I will come back to this when it happens because it is so predictable.

Im absolutely appalled the club have allowed this.

Yep, this is the crux of the matter for me.

I'm disappointed that the club let thr tour go ahead.

I'm annoyed that they seem to have made concessions that would not normally be part of a typical tour.

But I am furious that pictures and videos of my club have been plastered across social media as if it is the home of Reform and Farage. It makes me sick that the club I love is being used to promote a brand of racist, sexist, hateful politics, and it should make the powers that be sick to the stomach as well. It will be interesting to see whether organisations like kick it out make a big deal about this and I hope they do.

I hope Ashton also reads every single post on here to understand the full extent to which the club have let their supporters down today.

This. Reform UK or "inclusive, diverse, and welcoming". You can't choose both. Club didn't need to outright criticise Reform UK for what might have been Farage and team overstepping what was planned for their visit. But club could have clearly stated their anti-bigotry stance in light of a publicity event they ended-up hosting for a party that, while Farage was gurning in front of our sponsors, had an antisemite as a mayoral candidate:

Arsenal allow the worst Prime Minister (even worse than Truss) in their stadium.
I wonder if their fans react in the same way?
