Like I say I would continue the interesting conversation we were having but that thread is locked.

….particularly given some of the threads that aren’t locked! Higher forces at work.

Just asked Gav and neither of us did so intentionally. I assumed he'd done it while I was out much of yesterday and he assumed I had. Slip of the finger or mouse. Will unlock.

It seems to me a bit of a PR disaster for the club (and was even mentioned on the World Service this morning). Why it took until yesterday for them to say anything is a mystery. Perhaps they were hoping no one would notice.

My armband thread has been locked for whatever reason on 11:01 - Dec 3 by Jrm_72 | So what do we make of Marc Guehi writing 'I love Jesus' on his rainbow armband? Think someone mentioned above about what if a christian did something similar, so now is the chance... For me, I think wearing the armband, then effectively defacing it with a message that could/should be interpreted as 'I'm doing this under protest' is worse. Minimum is its just as bad. Sure the two of them will have plenty to chat about in the tunnel tonight... |

Think you need to get a better understanding of language if you want to debate with adults I haven’t made any “accusations”. Some people may take some of my posts as insinuation's but that would be their interpretation of the words I used, in a similar vein many will have interpreted your contribution in a certain way. If you aren’t comfortable with the potential interpretations then perhaps look back at how that may have happened Defend not deflect

Was SMs a personal statement based on religious beliefs, so could face a fine? I’m sure they’d avoid the conflict and the shtstorm that could follow. But would be interesting to see the reaction if he wore it, but wrote Allahu Akbar on it.

I'm sure writing that on there would get him in more hot water than not wearing it, or writing what Guehi did on it I just find it difficult as just very anti-religion but don't like to vocalise it too much as it is offensive to many, but this sort of sh*t is why - people think that when they are ultra religious they are morally superior to you and it's just laughable, they need to activate their brain and decide what is right and wrong. Should everyone be welcome at football and in the game? That's the only thing that matters here and we can see that they aren't

Maybe the last thing this discussion needs is a full blown debate about religion, but I have to say, I'm seeing moral superiority aplenty on this thread, but no openly religious bods. In fairness, it's a justifiable superiority in many ways, but tolerance must work both ways or it's anything but. Please everyone remember that its completely possible to be gay and religious.

I respect people's right to religious freedom, not the religion itself. Being a Muslim doesn't make Morsy a bad person, nor does it give him a free pass for bigotry. |
You're suggesting he's advocating bigotry which is a big leap. In my eyes it's being analysed too much. Is Morsy a good human being? Probably. I'm prepared to move on when there's f*****g atrocities being carried out across the world that are far more deserving of time and discussion than whether one person represents us all.

Oh there is a story here, we're already at 19 pages on TWTD. Like players taking, or not taking the knee and people choosing not to wear a poppy, it creates hysteria among groups of people who want to feel offended on behalf of others. The irony is, our Grandfathers fought for Sam Morsy's right to choose. Of course, the offended are also free to feel offended, in a free country. Edit,. 20 pages. [Post edited 3 Dec 2024 12:03]
