Think a lot of us rate him.
But a lesson for us perhaps is his QPR managerial tenure.
It’s taken him a number of seasons to get to third in the championship, 13th, 9th finishes
Serious poor form and challenges on the way, even as recently as the start of 2021, when it was being suggested Tim Sherwood would replace.
But Warburton turned that form around by switching formations from 4-2-3-1… to 5-3-2

Not sure QPR are a direct comparison considering their manager didn’t get to hand pick an entire new squad after saying the squad that he previously had wasn’t good enough (I agreed btw) but then proceeding to do worse with it.. |  |

What makes you think a change of formation is you going to be the magic bullet that suddenly makes us better? If Cook can't get us performing playing his preferred formation with a squad built to play in that formation then why do you think we'd be better playing a system he's not familiar with that the players weren't signed to play in? |
As Cook said himself at the start of the season, the recruitment of players was indeed targeted. You base your recruitment on data analysis. You expect ( hope) the players will replicate those stats at this Club. Some do better, some, for whatever reason do not.
Now which players of those recruited have for one reason or another not yet fulfilled their data analysis? Albeit due to form of injury ?

Cook (for this season), has had one transfer window . Do we really expect a manager to hit the ground running with the near 100% new player influx and for the players to immediately click into a fully competitive/ functional “ team”? I think even the most positive of person might be expecting a little too much so soon .
I say again , why , given the wholesale changes at this Club in the summer is promotion EXPECTED in the first season? I personally feel it’s unrealistic ( which is not to say I wouldn’t want it ) |  |

Many sides at this level have high turnover of players, it's not unusual. The idea that this was always going to be a transitional season and not one where we were going all out for promotion is, and I'm going to be blunt here, absolute b0llocks. |  |

If that's your opinion, I disagree. This is Cook's squad signed to play his system, I don't see which system better suits the players we have. |
agree with this - although I find it slightly confusing that so many of PC's signings don't even appear to fit his system - Harper, Carroll, Fraser (square peg in a round hole), Barry.
Also the fact that we went to the last day of the transfer window without signing that true holding midfielder that is key to 4231 and we still don't have a back up for him... |  | | |

I think the quality of the finishes last night, and the energy of the strikers, plus the strikers on the bench... combined with Bonne's finishing on Sunday.. mean its safe to say he'll not be in Warburton's immediate plans, and no doubt staying beyond January.
Love Downes and Dozzell but both needed a move. Dozzell needs good players and movement around him, which he didn't get last season. Could Cook have made him one of the deep two? Maybe. Certainly Fraser was trying to play Dozzell type balls last night.
Think Cook saw their body language and energy, and thought Morsy for one would be a big trade-up. But maybe Morsy now mired in the Ipswich malaise. | |
