Ummm, it was preseason...

Poll: How long will we be in League One/League Two from next season?

That it highlights how lightweight and thin our squad is!!!

That's only a positive if something is done about it

Poll: Our number one goalkeeper going forward?

In fairness the fact the game was completely meaningless is a pretty big positive.

True. Bring on Bogle then hopefully we invest in a decent wide right player and some decent centrally...Downes needs to be sent off to Aldershot and Hyam and Bishop off to wherever the hell will take them.

How is the final pre season game meaningless?
You are finding out about the mentality of first teamers, seeing who is ready for the fight, who's stepping up, setting final ideas in place for season ahead. And we've lost 6-1 to a league 1 team. Anti MM or not there is no way anyone can dismiss this today

We’ll be good again... one day

Come on Rommers, it's not meaningless unless you are claiming the last match before the season is pointless?

It will likely have destroyed morale, tell yourself it was meaningless if you like but it's nonsense friendly or not. We've lost 6-1 to a League One side and haven't even played a particularly weak team. Have a minute and let it sink in.

You know what i mean. It's meaningless in that it isn't being played for anything other than to learn and fitness.

Of course it's not a good thing. Getting smashed will have made confidence/morale drop.

But as for stakes of the result, it's meaningless.

No. Unless Mick goes - which should have happened at the end of last season. Or Evans frees up money to bolster this water thin squad which generally lacks quality.

No we do want Evans to do something about it !

Evans should have let Mick go last season and like I said McCarthy deserved to go after he sat there picking up money for 3/4 seasons excepting the paltry backing he received after the 2nd season when we reached the play offs !

Pre season is more than fitness these days, this is why I say MM has u under a spell. He has drummed it into us that it means nothing. It means hell of a lot! Practice makes perfect, has there been new corner routines? New passages of play put into practice?
He swans around talking utter sht to the press and then we get accused of picking his words to pieces. He has got to go

Yes I did because even though we all want him to he won't get rid of Mick nor spend the sort of money we need !

But miracles do happen sometimes but I wouldn't hold your breath !

It was dreadful. Carl Robinson has them playing quick, positive, organised football.

Any positives? None, unless we find a MF before Saturday. Downes looked like the raw kid that he is. Skuse barely broke into a job. Chambo looked every inch his 40 years. Sears was lethargic. Ward worse.

Why did you bump this?

Rather childish isn't it?

Why not enjoy the moment than look to score points against other posters?

I was looking for an old thread and happened to find this one whilst I was looking for it

I was trying to find the pre season prediction thread with the score predictions for our August games.

I bumped this because it proved the point I was making at the time. It was a meaningless friendly.

That when we lose one and win one of our next two games I'll be able to take the mick out of everyone who got upset about a preseason 6-1 loss with our overall 6-1 season record so far.

Can't wait!
