...be for the exclusive use of upper class bounders and villains in Arthur Conan Doyle novels and certainly not for putting on the back of foorball shirts?

What happens when someone with a double barrelled name marries someone with a double barrelled name?
Quadruple barrelled name. Actually (Guthrum, please correct), double barrelled named were associated with people whose biological parents were not married.

I like the theory.
Blimey. If that were true today I would have a quadruple barrelled name made up of possibles. Probably in the most likely order.

Mrs Radlett had a double barrelled name. I think the main reason she married me was to avoid having to be Shuna Shewell-Cooper for the rest of her life.

Almost as chavvy as a cheap personalised number plate
My partner and I have been together for 26 years. We have 2 children and never married. We chose to share our surnames for our children. There is nothing "chavvy" about it at all. It actually gives our children their own identity, while we keep ours. A case of think before you type. You don't know who you might be offending.
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.
