Here's a list of companies who donate to the Tories on 12:00 - Sep 4 by Darth_Koont
Political donations are small in purely financial terms. Instead, I’d give parties this 5-10 million or whatever it is out of the public purse if it meant protecting and retaining the purpose of a representative democracy.
Political parties already get public money to operate (forget what it’s called and Google isn’t my friend looking for it). So there’s no reason the Tories or Labour need to be receiving big donations from private individuals and companies. Private donations could be capped at a more deomocratically accessible and responsible rate of say 50 quid.
I made this exact argument today to someone when discussing political donations. He countered that if we indeed publicly funded the existing parties and effectively banned political donations, how would new parties ever get created?
I didn't have an answer - am all ears if you have one.

What is it you like about the Tories the best?
The open racism? The homophobia? The transphobia? The corruption? The incompetence? The ope spite directed towards anyone vulnerable? The criminality? The lying? The willingness to accept money from dodgy Russians?
I wonder what it is about the Tories that Zapers likes? The racism, the homophobia, etc, etc
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Have you not got better things to do with your time than send angry Karen emails to these companies becuase they give money to the Tory party?
True, maybe just concentrate on never buying anything from the names on the list that have been proven to still donate to the Conservatives. It's a bit like it would be if we found out that Planet Blue was owned by Delia...

I give a sh1t about corruption. I don't like the fact that companies can buy influence with political parties. It's also gives a whiff even to companies that have won contracts completely fairly.
For example, Moonpig have the contract for postal services to Prisons. Which obviously has no link to historic donations to the Tory Party, of course, and was the result of a completely open tender process achieving best value for the taxpayer.
I'm sure every single VIP lane contract during Covid, which were exempt from open tender processes designed to achieve best value for the taxpayer, and which Tory MPs could arrange access to, were in no way susceptible to influence from historic, or promised future, donations to the Tory party.
We are talking billions of pounds of contracts.
And then there is the funding of the Tory party by Russian individuals.
So, yes, we have to find ways to cut off funding, it's the boring end of the battle against corruption.

I really wish this wouldn't keep being ignored just because it is inconvenient.

Here's a list of companies who donate to the Tories by Ryorry4 Sep 2022 10:30 Oh dear, esp re Sains. Yes, the quality of their fresh veg in particular I've noticed has gone right down in recent months, tho some of that may be outside their control with sources being more limited now than ever.
Have just looked in my cupboard, have a half-full bag of Waitrose own brand, fully Fairtrade compliant, unrefined Demerara cane sugar, which is what I'm using at the mo & which is lovely, esp in coffee, so will stick with that. Also an untried as yet small jar of Vermont organic maple sugar.

Marxists 😂 Are the Norwegian Government marxists too?
[Post edited 5 Sep 2022 12:23]
I'm not Norwegian. I don't plan on being Norwegian, so who gives a crap if they're socialists? They could be fascist anarchists - that still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car.

Ok, I was just trying to understand your 'Marxist' description of Corbyn's policies.
