Can’t believe the crying and outrage about losing a dead rubber 14:26 - Apr 16 with 4241 viewsSitfcB

That many expected us to lose anyway (again)

To a team fighting for automatic promotion.

The season died after Cambridge at home.

Chill.

Erm. The OP is about the reaction to it...

I kind of agree with the op.

What did you make of Baggott's debut . Played well i thought. There's one positive.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Walton, Woolfenden and Baggott were our best three players. Says it all. Maybe Dyer has a point.

We haven’t been going for promotion at any point this season. Even had we beaten Cambridge it was still going to be a long shot.

That s not true is it, after a decent run under McKenna, there was a chance we could finish in the playoffs.

This isn't the type of performance to influence the floating supporters who are thinking of buying a ST for next season. You simply cannot be "On the beach" several games from the end of the season. We have again been unlucky with suspensions and injuries and bad refereeing but you simply cannot with the size and supposed quality of our squad keep using everything but the simple fact that we are not good enough. We are trying to play Champagne football in a Newcastle Brown League. Only a shake up adding a bit more steel and a goalscorer will sort this out otherwise we will be bringing up these questions again at the end of next season.

Came into the game well, was worried inside the first 15 minutes, Smith managed to out muscle him quite easily, but he slowly got a hold of him and by the end of the game I felt he really showed what he's capable of in senior football. I think with his height, working on his upper body strengh and how to cope with nasty strikers, he's got a promising future for me.

He was ok but there’s a reason Rotherham kept hitting Smith down his channel. A good pre season on the steaks and he’ll be fine, just needs to fill out a bit if he’s going to play regularly.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I'm sorry but your opening post is a bit ridiculous.

Rotherham's results from the past couple of weeks. Lost at home 0-3 to Shrewsbury, lost at home 0-1 to Charlton, lost away 0-3 to Portsmouth.

Three opponents whose season WAS DEAD whilst playing Rotherham and today Rotherham was there for taking. Poor, out of form but they have managed to win ugly that what we can't.

McKenna's honeymoon is well over. We no longer keep the clean sheets and we barely create chances in every single game. I honestly don't know where you take the optimism from regarding the next season.

What worries me is we're falling into the same trap as last summer - let the manager bring his own players and ignore the warning signs which are now starting to ring out. We'll storm the lead next year and bypass Norwich going the other way etc. etc.

His lack of ability to change the game seriously worries me. It was exactly the same under Cook.

And does his coaching team work on improving our set-pieces?

What about being a THREAT for the opponent and create chances?

The warning signs are there as you say.

I would love to be as confident as many seem to be about McKenna's ability to turn us into true contenders for promotion next season, but given the fact that his coaching career has mainly been with top level clubs, and he only has 20 games experience at this level. Yes he's improved defending and ball possession so far but there's far more to do to get a team that can win games despite the dubious tactics and shenanigans employed by most of this division. Have any of his coaching staff got League One experience either?

OP seems fine to me. Rotherham are fighting for an automatic spot, that’s a fact. They’re 2nd and level on points with 3rd. Having lost a few games after being practically unbeatable it was obvious they’d want a reaction. Losing a few doesn’t suddenly mean they’re going to be a walkover.

They were poor and for taking today.

His point being that the latter two are not being given a chance or that Humphreys is the second best midfielder at the club?

But certain players still have a point to prove it they want to be part of the squad next season, but they didn't play like it did they?

Which is a positive then going forward.

We expect to lose to Rotherham.

The match doesn't matter because we haven't been good enough all season

From the same poster who regularly told me I wasn't a good enough fan because I didn't think Cook was good enough for us.

The absolute state of the OP, no wonder the club has been stuck in this third tier for a now fourth season if this is the mentality of our fans.

It was.

Although it was essentially meaningless for us I did find it frustrating that once again we are an absolute gift for teams who need a result. For so long now we have lost to these teams. It would have been nice to go there and win to really make a statement but no, we lose and the other two teams go away from home and win. It's just irritating. I'm sure we're on the edge of finally turning things around but a little frustration about yesterday is absolutely fine.

Truly impaired.

Because we aren't playing youngsters. This is the side that many preach will be here next season and its been painful how owned we've been by them.

KM hasn't shown in this game the same as some others that he has an idea of how to change the flow of a game if its not us in control.

People don't like to dicuss football unless it's positive, that's a shame but that doesn't mean things can't be said because it's seem as a dead game. It's not. It's a competitive fixture playing our best lineup.

"This is the side that many preach will be here next season."

Many? I've seen a couple of daft people like Wally. Anyone with half a brain knows this won't be the same side as next season.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
