Whittaker Latest 23:57 - Dec 31 with 39982 views | TalkingBlues | A little birdie tells me that Swansea don’t see him returning to play 1st team football and need money for January transfer targets, so any move would be a purchase and not a loan. Valuation sits at £1.5 million to £2 million so he is well within our sights from a valuation perspective and there has definitely been “serious interest” from Ipswich. Looks like this could be more realistic than previously thought on here.

Whittaker Latest on 22:40 - Jan 1 by dannar | Hi Guys, I can confirm that MW will not be an Ipswich player this season. Sorry :) He has nothing to gain by moving to PR. Read his interviews he’s playing his best football and he loves the manager and the team. He gets nothing extra by moving to Ipswich. If Swans recall him, it will be to fight for a place there. I’ve seen on here mumbling about Swansea having financial difficulties, that’s not the case. All the best Dan A.R. |
Well Dan unless you are the CEO of either club you can’t really know if what you state is true can you? He is a Swansea player and ultimately they have the final say on THIER player’s immediate future no matter what Whitaker might say! However IF we were in for him it is ITFC policy that if a player indicates he actually doesn’t want to be here we do not progress in that chase. As has been said you are building your house on sand at the moment and it could come down and bite you just as it did us! [Post edited 2 Jan 2023 9:14]

From Swansea website https://planetswans.co.uk/2023/01/02/swansea-city-considering-whittaker-recall-f Given his stats of goals scored and assists £1.5- £2M would seem cheap for someone who is already decent Championship standard . Scott Twine went to Burnley for £4M and at the halfway point Whittakers stats are equivalent .
Whittaker Latest on 23:21 - Jan 2 with 6059 views | TalkingBlues | *newsflash* my little birdie reckons Whittaker has tonight been officially recalled! Here's another interesting snippet, Whittaker's agent also represents current ITFC players Lee Evans and George Edmundson, amongst several other ex-ITFC players, so clearly a relationship in place with the agent already.

Could be an interesting one, he would be a great addition and goes straight into the team Should add a bit more quality and muscle in that final 3rd!

I don't want to get my hopes up too high, he's teasing me with responses, lol, won't give me a definitive answer on where he thinks he's going, but I just can't see it being anybody else but us, haven't even seen a link with any other club but ITFC.

My only nagging doubt is I can see Whittaker asking Swansea to not sell him to a League One side other than Plymouth, if he enjoyed his time there so much. If they're selling him for half the price of Twine, Championship teams may be interested.

I can’t either. He’s also looked off the pace when he’s had opportunities down here. Maybe that’s unfair, but I can’t help but think people are getting a bit over-excited about this.

I agree with you...he grew up playing his football near me in Lincolnshire and was a great player at youth level. Have watched his career fairly closely and have to be honest like you and say he’s struggled at Derby and Swansea to make much impact. Thought he’d do better dropping down a level to Lincoln last year but he didnt, so I’ve been very surprised by how much Plymouth have got out of him. It would certainly damage Plymouth to lose him but I’m wary as to whether he’d have the impact on us that people appear to believe he automatically would | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I simply don't know more than the snippets I've mentioned I'm afraid and that's 2nd/3rd hand information anyway most likely. Even if he doesn't end up here, Plymouth losing him would be a right result for us, so I have fingers crossed regardless. *edit - I'd much rather he did come here though! Our forward options appear quite limited looking at the January marketplace, certainly if we continue to adhere to the previously stated philosophy of McK/Ash when it comes to signings (likely) then Whits is probably the best option available to us this window. I don't understand where thinking like this comes from. To reach professional level, you have to have an element of ruthlessness as well as talent. You have to stand out from all your mates at U11's, U15's and so on. To suggest Whittaker could come here and his appetite to get promoted, achieve success and no doubt an associated pay rise because of some sentiment for some team mates of his for 6 months is really not very likely in my mind. In his excellent performances for Plymouth, Whittaker has probably mugged off, dribbled past, elbowed and dived into tackles against mates or former team mates. Morsy wasn't exactly thrilled to be here after his move, less so when Cook left I am sure. But you could argue the guy absolutely bleeds blue and white now.

But what if he comes here and one day visits B&Q, wanders through the timber section and sees some ply? He might then without thinking touch his mouth, put the two together, make the association and break down in the store. He could try to clear his head and go for a drive and have a walk around Long Melford park where they have swans in the lake. That could really do it.

Marcus Stewart didn't worry too much about his Huddersfield team mates after joined us. Scored the winner against them in one of his first games.

What, because we once got Paul Mariner (and David Norris) from Plymouth, it could be an omen if we were to get Whittaker from Swansea?

You can practically see Plymouth from Swansea. Or you could if you could, but you can’t. Surely that’s a sign?
