Hear the birds. Nothing else. Then around 6.30 you start to see cars. Bikes etc on their travels. The sunset slowly starting Must admit I love it

Yeah it's been tough. My first time doing nights so taking a little while to get used too. Quite an awkward shift. 22.45- 9.30. so not alot of daylight by time I wake up from day sleep

Just started a new night job on 07:04 - Dec 7 with 1611 views | Coastalblue | My post covid life has seen be shuffling around needing jobs, had a spell at Amazon which I hated but have been working nights as a vehicle recovery driver covering London since the end of September. I do 7-7 and am finally just about starting to adapt, it's the days off that are a problem now as I want to stay up all night and sleep all day, not a popular thing with the other half, and eating is the other thing I really haven't got the hang of. Amazing driving round the city during the early hours though, I see dozens of foxes most nights (need to start carrying ham sandwiches) literally and the time it takes to get places still astounds me with it's speed at times.

Try to get up at 11 when I’ve done last shift to even up body clock, but it’s take a day now to even up! I’ve stood at PR, if I finish on a Saturday morning, not quite ‘with it’, but that’s been something of a blessing in last 10 years!😂

Years back I worked as an Assistant Manager for Chicago Rock Cafe in Basingstoke (awful place x2). This time of year was awful, go to bed in the dark, wake up in the dark, work in the dark. Didn't see daylight for two months and felt awful.

Just started a new night job on 09:41 - Dec 7 with 1338 views | Pendejo | Have worked a few night shifts over the years (1800 til 0600), but have also worked some very earlies, so heading out at 0400. The transition from night to day is fantastic. The biggest problem I had, at certain times of the year, were the position of the sun in the sky. When I worked days, the sun was behind me to / from work. When I worked nights, the sun was often directly in front of me, at least for a few minutes... Then if "Here comes the sun" played all would be good.

Just started a new night job on 09:51 - Dec 7 with 1304 views | clive_baker | Only time I've worked nights was in a summer holidays when I had about 10 weeks off. I did a contract in a factory that alternated between 6am - 2pm for a week, 2pm - 10pm for a week then 10pm - 6am for a week. The full timers then got the 4th week off. 13 weeks holiday a year sounded decent to me, but because I wanted the money I worked all the weeks. I loved the 6am - 2pm because it didn't feel like an early start particularly, given it was only 10 minutes drive and it was cool to finish early. Didn't mess with sleep or anything but it was in summer which I imagine helped. The other 2 patterns were crap, properly messed with social life / sleep.

You need to have your evening during the morning, then sleep and get up just before you go to work like you would do if you were working days. Also, make sure you have good blackout curtains and a blind so you can sleep in complete darkness - you need this to achieve deep sleep and avoid tau build up. https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/research/our-research/research-projects/understand
