Every year I am surprised by the people that seem to be surprised by this.

Manchester United were the biggest club in the country for a decade and are still the most supported club.

More people will tune in for their reserve team against a relegation threatened Championship side unfortunately than would tune in for Swindon Supermarine v Swindon, Sutton v Coventry or even Billericay v West Ham.

That's all the TV companies care about - revenue.

It's the same reason why Evans would rather have 13,000 fans paying £30 a ticket than 25,000 paying £10.

Sadly, you're right, but I still find it irritating that, however dull their tie - and it doesn't come much duller than a home time against Reading - it will be live on TV.
However, I won't watch it so I shouldn't let it keep irritating me.

It would be great if they genuinely picked interesting ties but those days as long gone.

Last year saw the end of their FIFTY-EIGHT game streak on TV and it was against Derby when United were also better, I'd say far more interesting that this years tie.

As WTW says, Man U have loads of fans and it guarantees big viewing figures. It's an open goal.

Truly impaired.
