Col U situation 10:43 - Oct 24 with 4328 views | Orangeboi373 | Feel sorry for them. Always liked them, especially after they trashed the budgies 7-1 in 2009, although too young to fully remember. There in an awful position, 23rd not improving. Doesn't help their owner is a c£nt who destroyed the club and lack of enthusiasm on the field. I know it's too early to decide if they are going down but with the current situation there is a likely chance. Edit: Although I like them, I do believe they are a nothing club with nothing going for them [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 11:34]

Col U situation on 10:56 - Oct 24 with 4218 views | Pippin1970 | Could easily of been us few years back. We world's apart now currently. The only competition on our door step is Cambridge and the Norfolk lot. Such a big catchment area really compared to the North West .
Col U situation on 10:58 - Oct 24 with 4204 views | clive_baker | Too young to remember 2009! Jeez, way to make me feel old. I don't have any ill feeling towards Colchester, I find the one-sided rivalry they try to stoke a little hilarious to be honest. I used to look out for their results and actually hoped they did well, especially as there were always player and managerial links between the sides. I do less of that now, especially since they left Layer Road. I don't feel anything towards them, good or bad. It's just such a soulless club of nothingness, no identity really, no history, no character, very little atmosphere in their identikit flat pack stadium plonked on the A12. Awful football, a team of ageing players just there for a last pay packet. At least under McGreal they were solid at the back, a few youngsters and looked like they were building towards something.

Col U situation on 11:15 - Oct 24 with 4102 views | AlanG296 | I know they could never have got Layer Road up to a decent standard, Layer Road must have been worth a few extra points, horrible ground for away teams, but they couldn't have picked a worse place to build a ground with 4 open corners on high ground. It's a good location for away fans by road though when the A12 is OK.
Col U situation on 11:30 - Oct 24 with 3978 views | Superblue95 | They’re such a nothing club really that nobody would bat much of an eyelid if they went down and disappeared into oblivion. They’ve been close to going down the past couple of years so you sense that their luck might finally be up. I wouldn’t fancy them to bounce back either.

I think 30 or so 15-18 year olds out on a school night is a bit unfair to suggest it is their whole fan base that came and caused all the damage
Col U situation on 12:11 - Oct 24 with 3726 views | tractordownsouth | They've been in perpetual decline since 2007, apart from that one good season under McGreal. The attendances are poor and there's a lot of apathy, mot too dissimilar from ourselves a few years ago.

Col U situation on 12:24 - Oct 24 with 3638 views | Mach_foreignBlue | They had been very poor 3 seasons ago. Got considerably worse in the last 2. Coincidence? Not at all as they are paying consequences for having hired the unmotivated, hopeless Ipswich rejects. . Their situation perfectly exemplifies how necessary Cook's Demolition Job was. To close down the old, darkest era and start a new chapter. [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 12:25]

Col U situation on 12:28 - Oct 24 with 3543 views | textbackup | Personally I’d love to see them relegated from the league. Purely for the lazy recruitment they applied last season. ‘Oh they live close let’s sign them’

Col U situation on 12:35 - Oct 24 with 3506 views | Illinoisblue | The people of Colchester don’t seem to care about them at all. Rubbish crowds, soulless stadium, Ipswich reject squad (could their recruitment be any lazier?) - they are a non-league club in waiting

But... If you come back on here to the summer 2021 you are going to laugh. It's a comedy gold as some people had been saying that Colchester were getting the fantastic professionals from us and with whom they'd have a good chance fior promotion.

It's true they don't seem to care, judging by attendances. But I'm always amazed if I walk back into town after a game wearing any sort of colours how many people ask how they got on (and look sad when I say they lost.) I mean they care enough to ask, but don't care enough to already know! [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 14:30]

Col U situation on 14:26 - Oct 24 with 3022 views | Sharkey | I'm curious to know, why do you say the owner is a c2nt? I always find him respectful and communicative. As I've written here before, I think maybe his problem is that he's too idealistic and puts too much faith in youth.

I remember that, there were a few posters that made a bet on an Ipswich / Colchester promotion double. Not sure that quite went to plan. Cook was crap despite my high hopes and i tired of his 'one of the lads' approach . But he signed a few reasonable players and could see plenty of the squad were stale, past it or unmotivated and he was right.

Who was then sacked for not sharing the chairman's 'vision' for the club. In other words asked for money to bridge the gap, told the youth team will provide

The Demolition Job might not have taken the place if the players had been treating their duties professionally. We might have signed 7-8 players, not 16. He had no choice just to kick these parasites out of the club. It can't be only the managers fault that we looked so crap and disinterested on the pitch throughout the years. Neither Hurst nor Lambert nor Cook were as big problem as the players were. It can't be only the managers fault. They took us down without a fight yet they got clapped for that by SBR stand. Chambers got a POTS reward and new contract. Beyond apprehension ! Then in League One they never really showed any desire and fight for the shirt but Evans allowed for that culture to set in. He was disinterested, never demanded a promotion and the players kept milking from the club. Ipswich, nice easy payday , whats not to like, eh? But they spoke nicely in the interviews thats why people loved them. Wonder if Colchester fans will be clapping Skuse, Chambers, Judge, Huws, Sears for the manner of their teams relegation because this season for them is a carbon copy of Ipswich 2018/19. No fight, no desire, just picking up the money. The Demolition Job was the best thing Cook did for the club. [Post edited 24 Oct 2022 15:17]

I’m not sure I ever said it out loud, but being truthful, I thought with what they had they might get a playoff spot. And I didn’t rate the ones from us they signed (aside from Skuse a few years back) but I thought they’d be enough for L2
