I know does that even make sense?! Have a read of the below: Boris Johnson: Fact-checking three years of the outgoing prime minister's claims https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/62071182 Sums it up doesn’t it. What a shower of bullish!t it has been. Let’s hope we have a change to honesty and integrity in part at Westminster. No more ‘general posts’ and politics from me for a while Time for posts about first 11s, bucket seats and friendly match reports It’s been emotional

Ros Atkins has consistently fact checked things over the past 5 years.

That's true. And Newsnight have been too in fairness. Mainstream BBC news (at the time before Ross took off) was woefully lacking though. You'd never have had items like this whilst they were primarily acting as the press arm of No 10. "A number 10 spokesperson tells us... [insert daily government message]". To be generous they were at best cautious. At worse they were complicit it uncritical propagation of government propaganda.

Oborne is one of the few living examples of a person of pretty right wing views who is not also a liar, fool, or hypocrite. I disagree with him on almost everything but have the utmost respect for him.

I have been consistently critical of Laura Kuenssberg and her fawning over Boris. She HATED Corbyn. As you say the "party spokesperson says" bit is used frequently, but more insidious is the way LK speaks almost in brackets by dropping her voice and rushing bits, whilst highlighting others. In particular she used "Blah blah Tory line Tory Line (brackets rushed "of course Labour would say...") Tory line Tory line Tory line." with incredible frequency on programmes like Politics Live. Another one was "Of course this is all very interesting in the Wdstmimster village but I'm not sure how much it matters to the public" to minimise stuff. Basically the key deflection as used by Boris and his cronies, and uncritically parroted by LK.

Quite agree. LK, Neil, Marr, Peston and seemingly all the other lobby journals and heavyweight pundits have been collectively awful for years. They've effectively been singing lullabies to keep us sleepwalking to where we are now. The way this lot turned on Johnson and the Tories eventually and only very recently because they knew that the electorate/viewers were waking up was nauseating. LK is the absolute archetype though. Absolutely dire and wildly anti-democratic to boot.

I completely agree that LK was dreadful, and did a lot damage to the BBC. However, even left wing Labour members among my friends, who actually met him, tell me that Corbyn is thick, self-centred and boring, so it is perhaps not surprising that he lacked appeal to journos.

Should "appeal to journalists" be the benchmark for journalists to report impartially? Your assertion seems to imply that if a journalist takes a (perhaps reasonable) dislike to an individual, it makes it OK to introduce major political bias in their reporting relating to national politics. Utterly indefensible,
