New Tablet. 21:56 - May 25 with 1168 views | jeera | Want a new tablet, it will be the lower end of the market at around the £130 mark and I see there's a few Androids out there that look just fine for all I need at that money. However, are there any main reasons I should be maybe looking to spend a bit more and buy a Windows one instead? So pros and cons really if anyone wouldn't mind giving a few pointers please. Uses: browsing, watching TV/films, basic everyday use as a mobile secondary device.

It was crap, very slow after 6 months, so much so she no longer uses it. She's on a Kindle now which she loves, but obviously doesn't run a good number of things. Personally, at that price, I'd be tempted to push it up to £160 and get a 2nd hand iPad. But that's just me.

See, to me a Kindle used to be for reading. Now the devices have all sort of merged somewhat and have taken on each others attributes. I don't need an iphone for the basic use I'm looking for though bud. Like I say, you're talking to someone who has used an amazon Fire for the past 4 years + so am used to not having too much at my disposal there! I rely on a laptop for anything day to day and really just want something to shove in a bag when I'm not home and to watch a bit of TV in bed, that kind of thing. I am wondering about storage though but as long as it can take a card, and preferably has a USB port of some sort then that should be fine. Edit: I was looking at this sort of thing Chelters: https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/tablets-and-ereaders/tablets/lenovo-tab- But don't know if there's more to be gained by having Windows. This is a much better buy:- https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/tablets/android-tablets/lenovo-tab-series/Lenovo-TB Octa core and full hd screen for only a few extra quid. Should run much better than a quad core unit. [Post edited 25 May 2021 23:00]

"Memory 2 GB Soldered LPDDR4x 3200MHz" I had a soldering iron as a kid. I hope they're better at soldering than me. I remember using it trying to make a bionic conker to have an edge over my mates. I think the thing fell apart on the first strike and caught me out. Anyways, yes, I did spot that the other day and forgot all about it. So storage the same but it will run faster, yes?

No idea why they felt the need to say it's soldered... it's not like you get upgradable ram in tablets. There's a decent review of it here:- https://mynexttablet.com/lenovo-tab-m10-fhd-plus-review/ It's got an SD card slot, so you can bang one in if you need more storage. Octa core should perform noticeably better than a quad core tablet. Android tablet performance can be a bit hit and miss as it often comes down to software and how on the ball the manufacturer is with updates. Lenovo are generally pretty good though. You might be able to find something better, but it depends how much time you want to invest in trawling the web and reading reviews etc.

No, I'm quite happy with the input from you and Chelts so far thank you Soupers. And it is the sort of thing I'm looking for and as you say, literally a few quid difference in price too. The Fire wasn't compatible with the Google store stuff and things like that, and you know, good little starting point that is was, it does get tiresome being pushed towards buying their goods when all I want is a tablet. Cheers for your time. [Post edited 25 May 2021 23:30]

Thanks Vils, appreciate the info. That does look a nice bit of kit I must say, but yes, moving a bit further away from my budget and is probably a bit too good for my needs. Getting all a bit larger too!

'bionic conker' absolute genius. Even a cheeser soaked in vinegar couldn't compete with that
