Census 14:28 - Mar 10 with 4513 viewshype313

Anyone else had it through? Quite long winded, and when you put your childs age in it asks if they are at school (6, so obviously) it then asks a plethora of questions about grades/level of education and work experience?

Presume Hancock has put his input into this.

done ours. Master F is at Uni in Nottingham so when i put only 3 and not 4 persons details it kept asking if i was sure! I checked and students should input from their term address, which he'll still be at until Easter.

Is your son actually at Uni? Mine is unable to attend and therefore stuck at home, and will be past the 21st March. Have therefore filled it in with him at home but living away from here over 30 days, and added his Uni address for that.

Yeah, bang your code in and then answer per the 21st March. So unless you are planning on being moving home, being on holiday, having kids or moving a partner in...you should be good to go.

Might as well do it now then, doubt I'll get pregnant by 21st March.

Odd, did mine the other day and when I put my 3 year old in most of the questions were skipped, so assumed it had some sensible logic* on that!

*although it did still ask if it was him completing the survey or someone else

funnily enough Ive just done mine

I am now an afro-caribean transgender Jew who works for an arabic charity while living with my new 'non-binary partner'

It will be interesting to see how diverse the results are compared to 2011. I think some of the far right will try and exploit the results.

They want them (hopefully) completed by then.

You can do it as soon as you receive your code.

no read the letter properly again, specifically the "All households should complete the census on Sunday 21st March 2021 or as soon as possible after." sentence.

the census is taken on the 21st March, thats the date we use to say this information the census has collected was accurate on this date in time.

and thats important because if you had a visitor staying in your house on the 21st, unlikely at the moment because of covid but regardless in some situations it will happen, you would have to fill in their details as being in your house as a visitor on the 21st, same goes for jobs, children, ages, births, deaths, marriages, all of human life experience its fixed on that date, not the week before just because the letter early.

and if you can predict the future so accurately, can you tell us what the lottery numbers are for next week ?

you might say why does it matter, nothings going to change or who cares if its wrong anyway, maybe so on an individual basis but for an entire nation of 66million or so people, if all the data was just a bit wrong, a bunch of decisions then get made by government depts, like the correct groupings for prioritising vaccines for instance that would then also be wrong. bad data in equals bad data out.

so, wait until the 21st to complete it

I read yesterday morning as part of a report on legal action being taken about one or some of the questions about gender that over 30% of forms have been completed already. If you really don’t want people to fill it in early then don’t send the forms out so early and don’t make the online system active until the correct date.I suspect they took the view that people’s early best guess replies were more valuable than no data at all.

I think it’s far more likely that they just go early to make sure everyone has them by 21 March rather than risk a delay

That said I apparently didn’t read it properly as thought it said by the 21 March, so what do I know! 😳

No, we do want people to complete as soon as possible. Don't wait until the 21st.

From what I read earlier it's fine to complete it immediately but to let them, (whoever that is), know if anything changes.

This is only likely to affect Keno so far from what I've seen.

Exactly. If you're confident that your living situation won't change between now and 21st, complete it today.

Those not done by 21st March will get a knock on the door...

If you're really unlucky that could be me as I've passed interview stage and just need to pass vetting...I
Only a temporary job to end of April but an interesting one for a nosey barsteward like me, plus a rare and unique opportunity.

I got a "congratulations you passed the vetting stage" email that also informed me that there were currently no jobs available...

Then an email yesterday letting me know that my contract would be sent out within the next 48 and to sign it asap

So no basically no idea what's going on, hope your application is clearer

You're quite right that the Census is very important as it's supposed to influence government decisions for the next 10 years.
However, the Tories have recently shown that if you live in a Labour-voting constituency you're getting nothing.
I think the govt. can sell the census data to interested companies so a nice little earner.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?
