I think that's nonsense tbh. We look so much more solid, even against the better teams (of which Donnie are clearly not one) and don't look like we are going to concede easily whenever we're ahead. I get the point about striking though, assuming that's what you're talking about. Hard to argue with it atm really...

That wasn't getting by, we controlled the entire 90 minutes. I don't think there was a single moment in the match that we even came close to being put under any kind of threat.

Pathetic. Nothing wrong with tonight's performance, Bonne should have 2 goals.

More clean sheets under McKenna in league than Cook managed on 22:08 - Feb 8 with 2821 views | FrimleyBlue | It's great. Slight concern at 8 goals on 8 games. ( plus 4 v Gills in the 9th) Absolutely it can only take 1 goal to win a game... but we need that goal total up imo. Need to get that balance right.

More clean sheets under McKenna in league than Cook managed on 22:08 - Feb 8 with 2804 views | tractorboy1978 | We done a professional job without being outstanding. Saw the game out as we did against Gillingham, Accrington, Wimbledon, Wycombe without being massively convincing. Under Cook all games we’d have possibly won more convincingly or equally likely not seen out. I’ll take the 3 points every day of the week. Notable as well that the two games he’s lost are against two of the league’s form sides. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Bonne forced the keeper into a couple of good saves, one of which caused the goal. Strikers are going to miss chances, no way he was "awful" tonight.

In terms of the striking sure, but we are so much more solid. Not sure we should be worried about anyone really, except Rotherham maybe who would do this lot one or two nil (and have half their fans complaining they weren't good enough).

You must either have incredibly low standards on what is a good performance or you have no idea about football. We got what we deserved tonight, but the final 3rd in the last few games is a massive concern.

Beeb website agrees - stats are good too - "Town, six points off the top six, were the dominant outfit throughout as bottom side Rovers struggled to make an impression on the game. Macauley Bonne should have put the visitors ahead inside two minutes but headed wide from close range. Conor Chaplin was a menace for Ipswich and regularly popped up in the box, only to be denied by Rovers keeper Jonathan Mitchell. Chaplin played a big role in the breaking of the deadlock in the 39th minute when he found space in the box and headed straight at Mitchell who parried away only for Bakinson to race in and fire home the rebound. Doncaster improved after the break but struggled for clear-cut chances. Ipswich continued to threaten with Bonne drawing a good save from Mitchell with a close-range header. Janoi Donacien and substitute James Norwood both missed good opportunities to extend the advantage of the visitors." Match report supplied by PA Media. We did control it but we didn’t play well and we did get by in my view. We were playing bottom Of the league and they were dreadful and we won 1-0. Hardly peppered their goal their keeper didn’t have much to do. If that’s the standard of performance that you think will be enough to get us in the play offs then you are frankly wrong. A win is a win and we needed it but we need to step up on our last 3 performances in 9 months time if we are seeing performances like that consistently I guarantee there will be grumbles.

Some interesting bits in that report. It was Bonne not Chaplin whose header was well saved by Marshall (not straight at him although Bonne will be disappointed that he put it close enough for it to be saved). Chaplin had the earlier flick-on header for Bonne. I would suggest Celina showed more threat in their box than Chaplin did too. But Burns and Chaplin got in the box to good effect as well.

We created enough chances to win 2 games - was a poor finishing display tonight. You play like that enough throughout a season you’ll be just fine.

Results have been great no grumble with those. The last 3 games, going forward we have looked below average. We can’t be at the races all the time and a win is a win but I don’t believe people will Be happy with the attacking threat of the last 3 games if we continue in that vein. We look a much better side, we are doing the fundamentals much better but going forward we look Very sterile certainly in the 3 games. Hopefully just one of those spells where it doesn’t quite come off.

17 shots and 7 on target vs 3 shots and 0 on target. How is that not playing well?! Their keeper made a couple of very good saves and if we were more clinical it would've been 3 or 4 nil, and I'd guarantee you wouldn't be moaning. We've been playing like this for most of Mckenna's time and are 2nd in the form table so the idea that we wouldn't get in the playoffs playing like this is rubbish - it's not the championship ffs.
