So yet another weekend has passed with pubs closing farcically early and more issues being caused by people just drinking loads in a short period of time.

I think enough is enough, we need to stop being defensive over this. Open up stadiums and venues and let us get on with life.

Also I see many people not wearing masks and they seem to be ok so why not make the wearing of PPE optional, give people a choice?

I know it’s a free(ish) country and all that but I do find threads that start like this get very tedious and although they will be in denial usually show the OP’er and those supporting them to be complete utter moronic eejits

But unfortunately that doesn’t stop them and TWTD is the poorer for them

Indeed.

Nice to see that Paz thinks he's talking sense though.

I think he raises a good point about opening stuff up. Take football stadiums for example. Could be done perfectly safely with limited capacity. You’ve got a couple of hundred people attending some non league games, I don’t get why the football league is any different

If you’d bothered to take notice of what has been said 200 people staying in a field to watch Pratt’s Bottom vs Lowestoft is a little different to several hundreds if not thousands cramming into concourses etc at stadium

It doesn’t require any great intelligence to work that out

Phil has explained it in several posts

Context?

They worked it out when the R rate and number of infections was lower. Those plans are now deemed invalid given the changes in circumstances. This really isn't hard stuff to work out. It just looks like you want things open for your own reasons.

Thousands of fans traveling to a match in a city centre on public transport isn't going to be a good idea but I suspect you are only considering your own circumstances.

Thousands of fans on the beers all day drinking on public transport is exactly what we need.

The economy needs a boost and this will provide it.

When grounds open I fully intend to sing / drink beer / celebrate with fellow fans all without a mask on

That doesn't address any of the points made.

It’s very relevant. Social and economic costs of restrictions need to be considered (unfortunately this government and ‘the scientists’ who advise them don’t seem to be aware of that

Think Paz is just trying to get things open as was my original comment.

To say a few more people will die is a massive lefty over reaction.

If we don’t open anything on fear of death then nothing will ever happen, you could get hit by a bus when waking to ground after few pints.

Using that logic we should ban all games until there Are no buses on the streets

Because they either have a medical issue or they are selfish dickheads. Some people can't wear a mask. Those that can that choose not to are just morons.

These would be the same people who refuse to understand the lack of sympathy for their fellow deniers when they catch the thing and fall ill.

I can see a bus, I can’t see covid.

In 2018, the most recent year I can find a figure for 1738 people were killed by road accidents in UK, there is no “bus specific” figure

In a little over 6 month# COVID has killed 45000 people or thereabouts

So yes buses are a good analogy!!

Again the point that face coverings are intended to protect others but not the wearer is missed.

It feels like so many people are totally unaware of this. It’s the only reason I can see that explains their attitudes towards masks.

How much is a life worth?

Put a number on it since you're citing economic costs.

Social costs are relevant but is you watching football worth someone else possibly dying?

It is weird how some people are still saying the same sh1t those not listening were saying 6 months ago.

You see bits of it on here all the time.

Funny old thing, mindset. Many people seem to decide what they are going to believe in and stick to it regardless of all information that comes their way.

How much is it worth?

Tell us?

75000 dead, 100000 dead?

You must have a feeling of what you feel is an acceptable price to post in this fashion.
