What happened to the end of season VHS/DVD? 14:06 - Feb 12 with 6078 viewsBlueWorldOrder

It seemed as it was dropped as soon as Evans took over the club after the one they slapped Roy Keane on even though he managed us for 2 games that season if I recall? The last one was the 2014-15 season five years after that with us losing to Norwich in the PlayOffs.

The DVD (VHS previous) used to be an annual purchase for me and my friends, I suppose these days you would offer a digital download as well but for some reason we just don't produce them or anything like it. I have mates who support other clubs, they have DVD's covering time periods for their clubs, star players, insightful interviews with the people that were there but I see more of that from TWTD and Pod-casters than I do the club. Now I appreciate we have nothing to cheer or haven't had for some time but are you telling me a DVD about John Warks entire Ipswich career, with clips, interview, insight and so on wouldn't be a seller? Could do a big signing session on launch, it would help educate our kids on these guys. It's something the club would be wise to consider while they are still alive and can offer their input and actually celebrate this club. The closest thing we had recently was the new home kit that neglects to mention we actually won the Europa league...

I can't imagine there's been much demand in the Evans era.

Even for retrospectives? FA Cup winners, star players, UEFA Cup, 1992 and the early Premier League ...

I'd buy a DVD about our youth system in the mid 90's that featured stories and insights as well as clips with all the good players we produced then. Vaughan, Wright, Tanner, Scowcroft, Naylor, Dyer, Bramble and so on.

It seems every other club has nice things and all we get served is nothing and told we have to enjoy it and thats on or off the pitch.

I am not sure if a video was produced for 1994/95 either, if there was I did not buy it.

First one done as a season review was 1991/92 I think although a retrospective one was done for 1980/81 but don't think that covers every game.

There was, they even did a regular video serious in the early 90's you could buy which had longer highlights and interview on them. I have all of them from 1994-95 as well as the end of season video.

The DVD's of the 80/81 and 91-92 seasons were actually just rehashed versions of the VHS's produced years earlier. No effort from the club.

I think the demand is catered for in other ways these days.

Thinking back to a mid-90s one I had, there were the usual highlights as well as one or two behind the scenes features. They're all available across the club's various social media channels these days, so there's nothing to be gained by paying to have them compiled onto one DVD.

I bought the 14/15 DVD, but all it seemed to be was a compilation of the various highlights reels available elsewhere, with the quality of each match being rather dependent on the quality of the host club's AV setup.

I agree it was a very cheaply made and poorly done presentation. What we should expect from the Evans era. While I agree that you can see the highlights and bits elsewhere, some of us stay off of Facebook and would prefer to watch it either via streaming service or DVD. Used to be a fun thing to collect and like I said other clubs produce them as well as all the other bits, we don't get the same. There must be money in it otherwise the other clubs wouldn't produce them!

I have the 1991/92 highlights produced by Visionsport as 'Official Ipswich review of the season' and produced and no doubt purchased in 1992 so that was not rehashed.

How much the club was involved in producing it, I don't know.

There may well be a 'rehashed' version of it as you suggest but a video WAS produced in 1992.

I think there's little demand for them, to be honest, even though I used to get them. The quality has spiralled down on them and the internet age has made highlights much more accessible and available meaning demand sinks further.

Besides, they all get badged up with "@IpsRich" and then end up on Statman's Twitter anyway, which is a bit cheeky of Rich if you ask me as they're not even his videos anyway!

Does Vision Sport International even exist anymore? What about those terrible pieces of stock music they used - TWTD!

Yes, they still exist. They sporadically picked a few ITFC videos from the guy who does them on YouTube and removed them, but left others for some reason.

He had put up the 2000/01 season and they removed half of his downloads and he got a copyright strike from YouTube because of VSI put a claim in. Think he had other seasons up that have gone too.

I was in ME's offices not even that long ago really, and the screens were still showing clips of Tamas Priskin's goal against Arsenal. Pretty tragic that a League Cup semi final 1st leg lead is the highlight of his ownership.

A certain irony too, given the largely terrible managerial appointments he's made, that it was Ian McParland that oversaw it in 1 of his 2 games as caretaker manager.

Wait, really? That's tragic.

I'd have thought that he'd be embarrassed to have had any mention of the club there seeing as he's run it so poorly.

This one had the highlights from the Evans era on there from new... some people might call it a blank tape... and the fact that Woolworths is no more is probably quite relevant too, in terms of how old it is...

True, but it would be interesting to hear players and staff takes on what went on behind the scenes at the time. There's been plenty of stuff that has happened (mainly off-field) that I would like to hear about.

genuinely who would want to watch any of the past 6-7 years as a highlights dvd or blu-ray ? and sure you can say yeah I want to, but who knows how much the rights for all the tv coverage would cost to put together for a season as I doubt the club own any of it anymore or can license it cheaply. and I doubt Tony Gubba is for hire anymore.

it might sell a 100 copies at most, it just wouldnt cost in.

get promotion as champions, win a cup, yeah Id buy that, a highlights show of Town being continually rubbish, no

Did we really hire Tony Gubba for the commentary? Don’t remember that if so.

From memory a lot of it was just talked through retrospectively by the narrator. It was the same bloke for years. He’d say things like...

“The Blues arrived at Molineux in good form. And it wasn’t long until they found themselves in front - Jamie Scowcroft bundling home at the far post after good work from Jamie Clapham and Mark Venus.”

In some games it had commentary from the day, but I don’t think it was Radio Suffolk’s. Who said that incredible line about Tarricco? “Like a cheetah on the plains of the Serengeti.” That was on the end of year video - to my knowledge it wasn’t used anywhere else but I could well be wrong.

Not Tony Gubba but someone with the same surname, they did all the links.

The 97/98 video has John Helm commentating on everything except Sky matches, the 5-0 over Norwich and some matches which had regional coverage on other ITV channels.
