Lack of reporting Hirst 18:56 - Jul 12 with 17276 views | bluesbrothers | Isn’t it just a bit weird for local press and twtd not to report on Hirst at this point? Club must really have them by the balls these days…

Lack of reporting Hirst on 19:40 - Jul 12 by SitfcB | Yeah it’s different in that we all know about it anyway so why do we need someone to do a story on it. |
Bet you weren’t saying that about the BBC situation!

No one would be helping anyone by acknowledging it either. Patience is a virtue.

We've seen what it's like when Lamberk banned local media from the club junkets, and it was crap for the fans and even more crap for Phil I would imagine. To coin a popular phrase at the moment - 'Trust the process'

No way there’s NDA’s in place. Just a gentlemen’s agreement.

Would there not be an NDA in place for the confirmation of a signing though, I mean Phil and EADT usually have their stories written up and ready at the same time, and I doubt they knock them out in a few minutes. From my own experience if something is going to print (or media) from the official source and they get you lead time to produce content, it usually comes with an NDA on a case by case basis. Of course, someone under an NDA can't generally claim they're are under an NDA as that in itself is often a clause of the agreement.

I think Ashton is more of a hand shake guy given what was said over KMAc. Also when he took over said everyone needs to pull together. Leaking information was hurting the club etc. If it can’t be disclosed either way my money is on a gentleman’s agreement and in return more access allowed etc….

Clearly being slightly provocative. But I do think it’s fair to question the future of the site if it’s only ever going to publish stuff if/when the club lets it. Twitter will always be ahead of it. I really hope that’s not how it plays out but think it’s a fair challenge

But what if it’s not Town putting a stop to it? Maybe Leicester have asked?

I do think there is a gentleman's agreement in place if the club is answering "is there something in this?" - though I would be shocked if there isn't something more formal in place when media is told "this is going to be confirmed at [date]/[time]

Do you not mean an embargo opposed to an NDA? The club wouldn’t be able to embargo this news, we’ve all seen the photos! I’d imagine it’s more along lines of we think this could hurt us on getting this deal done, if you do-operate with us we’ll help in the future - i.e I’ll get McKenna to do a sit down with you as a thank you. But they can’t embargo stories and gossip like this, they can only embargo news that they are giving

There's just no way a journalist could accept an NDA as they'd lose their independence. There is a delicate balance that the local journalists need to find with the club though. If they're asked for some reason not to run a story then they need to weigh up whether messing up relations with the club is worth it. In this case what's really to gain by going with it early - everyone who is desperate to know seems to know already!

Think you’ve misunderstood - not questioning the lack of official announcement. As I’ve said above, you are actually correct, it is on Leicesters side that’s held that up. But no “set to sign” or “Hirst deal close” story is arguably a bit silly given it’s all over the internet. Surely any unofficial fan site would report that. Worry for the EADT even more. If they’re only going to release what the club let them, that subscription fee isn’t going to be anywhere near worth it

Phil/EADT usually get a press release a bit before the club release if that’s all.

Yes I probably think you nailed it there but would expect the “formal” to be more of a “respectful” agreement in regards to announcements. And clearly the club are also using the media in return to put things out there when necessary to either add pressure elsewhere when necessary. Either way things are clearly running better than previously has been the case.

Lack of reporting Hirst on 19:20 - Jul 12 by BigCommon | Was thinking how much of a little boost it would give to the fan base. If a couple of new signings were announced on the launch of Town TV, with interviews and some footage? Imagine that happening on the day of the launch. Would give everyone a right lift. Maybe why everyone is holding back atm? |
No-one is holding back, there is a huge amount of complexity in transfer deals, personally I think Ashton and his team do a tremendous job of it all. Expecting everything to line up perfectly is to show you think it's all a bit like Football Manager on the PC
