Argyle fan in peace 12:11 - Apr 20 with 18421 views | PAFCSurrey | morning all, So I keep my eye on your forum (and Owlstalk - which can be pretty funny when they lose) and just wondered what your current consensus (as much as you can get on a forum with a million differing views!) on how it'll end up for us, you and Wednesday come the last day. You're clearly playing the much, much better football than the pair of us, but have 2 very tough looking games now. Cambridge at home looks, on paper, an "easy" one but i'm expecting it to be anything but. Gut feel?
Argyle fan in peace on 13:20 - Apr 20 with 2113 views | RIPbobby | I fancy us to beat posh and Barnsley. If they try and play football against us we will win. If they make it a battle then it's 50-50. The last match at Fleetwood is my concern. Hopefully it will be done and dusted by then and we play the kids.

Argyle fan in peace on 13:22 - Apr 20 with 2090 views | Fatboy | Saturday is massive for us. If we win and Wednesday don't, we could be up by Tuesday night. Or just a win for us means we can afford to lose at Barnsley and promotion would still be in our hands. Also, if we win on Saturday and Barnsley lose, their automatic hopes would be over and they'd have no incentive to beat us on Tuesday. I'm sure they'd rather not drag us into the play-offs with them and they certainly wouldn't want to be responsible for Wednesday getting into the top two. So for me, Plymouth are already up and we'll join them if we beat Peterborough. I honestly don't care whether it's in first or second place. Plymouth would be worthy champions for their consistency and resilience throughout the season. The title for us would be the icing on the cake, but it's the cake that counts!
Argyle fan in peace on 13:24 - Apr 20 with 2082 views | blueasfook | Hello there! I think you guys you will finish top, with us second. Play-offs for wednesday. See you in Championship next season!

Argyle fan in peace on 13:26 - Apr 20 with 2062 views | noggin | Plymouth and Ipswich top 2. I really don't care in which order but I honestly believe we will win all of our remaining games if everyone can avoid injury.

Argyle fan in peace on 13:30 - Apr 20 with 2046 views | southnorfolkblue | Plymouth up as champions. If we beat Posh on Saturday we’ll finish 2nd. Lose that one and it’s 50-50 with Wednesday but the pressure on them to get maximum points from the last 3 games will be huge [Post edited 20 Apr 2023 13:34]

Saturday is MASSIVE. Situation will be a lot clearer. Also: Barnsley? They’re not dead yet.

Argyle fan in peace on 12:41 - Apr 20 by billlm | The deflections yes, luckiest team I've ever seen, |
For me it seems Plymouth's season is an absolute freak. An absurd amount of deflected winners combined with Cooper being brilliant. I would really like to kmow how many of Plymouths winners have been deflections.

Apparently it can, that and a really good goalkeeper!

How many is an 'absurd' number?

Argyle fan in peace on 12:47 - Apr 20 by NthQldITFC | Every time I work through it, I come up with: Ipswich 96 Argyle 96 Wednesday 92 Barnsley 88 That might be because put the same data in every time, but. |
This order gets my vote.
Argyle fan in peace on 13:46 - Apr 20 with 1957 views | Freddies_Ears | If we win our next 2 games, we are pretty much up. If we drop points at Peterborough, it makes Barnsley away utterly critical. I think we are 60/40 to make top 2, and 80/20 to win if we have to go play-offs. So, over 90% likely to go up, somehow. PAFC will finish top, but it will be close. If we continue our current form, we might even pip you on goal difference. It is wonderful, but excruciating, at the same time!!!
Argyle fan in peace on 13:58 - Apr 20 with 1911 views | homer_123 | I've been saying for ages that we will win the league. So, us 1 you guys 2. Barns promoted in play offs.

Argyle fan in peace on 14:12 - Apr 20 with 1848 views | BlueNomad | I hope Argyle go up with us. Then I want to watch Wednesday completely implode just for the karma of their fans' behaviour and the offside goal at Hillsborough.
Argyle fan in peace on 14:18 - Apr 20 with 1809 views | tractordownsouth | I think Plymouth will win the league. To come through so many setbacks is admirable and with much better fixtures than us and a game in hand over Sheff Wednesday, they’re in the driving seat. As for second, I wouldn’t like to say because my nerves are already shredded and we don’t have a game for 48 hours. If we beat Peterborough on Saturday, I’ll be fairly confident because then we’d only need five points from the last three games, or even fewer if Sheff Wednesday slip up. Drop points though and Barnsley becomes a must not lose. [Post edited 20 Apr 2023 14:23]

Argyle fan in peace on 14:35 - Apr 20 with 1732 views | Guthrum | I think it's going to be very difficult for Barnsley to catch either of us and Wednesday have the handicap of one game fewer to get the points. The top two would have to slip up twice and Sheffield actually manage to capitalise, at which they're currently looking shaky. Both Plym and Ips are manging to win even the difficult games and those where either falls behind, at the moment. If you drop points, we may well overtake, but equally I wouldn't be surprised if that didn't happen. Very little between us when it comes to real-world form (as opposed to how we're playing).

Argyle fan in peace on 13:01 - Apr 20 by Illinoisblue | I’ve a nagging feeling Weds will win all three; despite their fans being in meltdown I think the fact they’re no longer top takes the pressure off them. Then again, derby last day should need something so who knows. |
However I could also see both Plymouth and Town winning at least three of our four remaining games, thus securing top two.

Argyle fan in peace on 13:15 - Apr 20 by TRUE_BLUE123 | Ask me on Saturday at 5pm. If we win, we will go up along with yourselves. (Same for if Weds drop points) If we lose and weds win. They will go up with yourselves. But right now 1. Plymouth 2. Weds 3. Us As for Plymouth. When Whittaker went back, I thought, they will slip. When Cooper got injured, who was probably the best keeper outside the prem for the the first half of the season and was saving so many points, I thought, they will slip. Well its 20th April and you are top of the league. I don't watch you every week but as an outsider looking in, you have a team with serious cojones. Fair play. [Post edited 20 Apr 2023 13:29]

I don't know but I do know that the square root of 2 is an 'irrational' number. Which probably doesn't help.

Argyle fan in peace on 15:48 - Apr 20 with 1511 views | Bobbychase | Things like Wednesday losing at Forest Green and you losing at home to Lincoln makes me think there are twists and turns to come. Hope it's us and you for top two. As long as your manager stops his Norwich City love-in ;-)

Argyle fan in peace on 15:57 - Apr 20 with 1471 views | Sawtrich | Trying to be rational and calm myself down. If Wednesday get 7 points from 9 to finish the season (a good haul) that leaves Ipswich and Plymouth needing 2 wins from 4 (assuming they can't change around goal difference). So, it's pretty much sorted, right? We can all relax and enjoy the end of the season now.
Argyle fan in peace on 16:09 - Apr 20 with 1431 views | TexacoCup | My daughter and family live in Plymouth, so I absolutely hope the two of us go up and I think we will.
Argyle fan in peace on 16:11 - Apr 20 with 1412 views | Kropotkin123 | If I were you I'd be somewhat nervous. Cambridge are the type of team that will target a point/smash and grab. You've already dropped points against them this season and they are in excellent form (w3, d1, L1). Sam Smith, fresh from his body shop success, has scored five goals in a row. With them fighting for survival, I would not want to play them right now. Urgh, and Joey Barton. Who wants to face them in a run in when stuff matters. They are type of team that you want to get promoted just to avoid. Burton is a lot like our Exeter game. I'd be very surprised if either of us don't win those respective fixtures. Port Vale. If they are safe, it's an easy game. If they need a point, it will be very tough. With our games, Peterborough are fighting for a play off spot. I think we are more likely to beat them than Fleetwood. I'm desperately hoping we get all three points. I think we will too. I can see us drawing in an energetic encounter with Barnsley. I think if we beat Peterborough, they will have one eye on managing themselves for the play offs. I think if we lose to Peterborough, they will see autos as back on. Fleetwood are in the mid table abyss, so it will be about how much they actually care to bust a gut. On paper, you are favourites. but I fear you will lose out to Sheffield Wednesday, after you've had a spectacular season. I'd rather you were second than them. But I'd rather Barnsley went up second after us. But that would need a significant crash. Anyway, so long as we go up in autos, best of luck. [Post edited 20 Apr 2023 16:14]

Argyle fan in peace on 16:31 - Apr 20 with 1330 views | unstableblue | Welcome to the board. First off its so interesting to read Owlstalk and in part Pasoti, for the complete misinformation around Ipswich peddled! e.g. we sneaked Tuesday with a flukey handball penalty and Port Vale had the better chances! it was the Alamo for them. But Vale did give a good account of themselves, with a heroic low block. And I think their coach who's stepped up is well liked, so not an easy final game for you guys. Unless they're on the beach. Secondly I think you'll take top spot and automatic, and well deserved - your two recent away wins have been massive after Wembley. I hope we can keep winning and keep above Weds, we are a far better side, and we're playing great stuff. Bristol Rovers mates say they were terrible second half (see I'm doing it now!), and Rovers deserved at least a draw. I think if we can beat Posh Saturday... then we'll make it
