I know a Facebook group that reposts old bootleg Jeremy Kyle episodes every morning if that's of any help.

When you say you 'know' of such a group, you mean you run it, don't you?

Prime:

The Expanse - basically Game of Thrones in space. Starts a little slow and needs paying attention to, but well worth it.
The Boys - mental, over the top superhero satire

Netflix:
The End of the F**cking World - nice little 'road trip' show
History of Swear Words - Nic Cage talking about swearing

Sky :

Lovecraft Country - bonkers horror/sci-fi set in 50'5 black America

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Agree whole heartedly with Succession, best show I've seen in ages.
Also agree with Bosch, great detective procedural, and would add Justified, which I believe is 5 seasons on Prime.

And star in a few episodes. But I'm innocent, I swear. Those lie detectors aren't reliable.

Maybe the wrong platform for you but just finished Gomorrah on HBO. Probably the "grittiest" series I've watched. Great acting, the story lines twist and turn with each episode, and as dark as it is, completely believable.

As Jerry Springer observed, to create a show like Kyle or Springer presented, all you need to do is take a phrase describing a man, add 'and the women who loved him', and you've got a show.

'The morrissey fan from Lowestoft, and the women who loved him'.

Gomorrah has come recommended by a number of posters now so it must be worth a look.

I've only held back because I thought I might get around to giving Italian a go and figure it's always handy to have something watchable to go alongside a bit of lingo learning.

You could dig a bit deeper in order to find a bit of quality. Undercover (Pod Prikritie) is a Bulgarian gem (need to be sure (with all) that they have English subtitles), Black Widow (Penoza) a Dutch series, or Mafiosa (French- Corsican). great watching and all ran for five series.

I got into Mafiosa for a while but dropped after around the 3rd series.

I can't remember why I deserted it but will look to see if it's still available.

Probably got distracted by something else.

I started watching it because I like to think I know a bit of French.

Then I sort of fancied the lead character.

And as I went along I learned I cannot understand French when spoken at speed by French people.

I knew that anyway but I do try to watch a bit hoping to improve.

Everyone else has done thriller and crime drama, so I'll do Comedy.

The best things I've watched over the last year:

Top notch series:
Stath Lets Flats (All 4)
Ghosts (BBC iPlayer)
Schitt's Creek (Netflix)
What We Do In The Shadows (Prime)
The most recent series of Taskmaster (Mike Wozniak etc) (All 4)

Next rung down, but still with brilliant moments or lovable characters:
Motherland (Netflix and iPlayer)
Derry Girls (All 4)
The previous series of Taskmaster (Richard Herring, Johnny Vegas, Daisy May Cooper etc)
This Time with Alan Partridge (and Jenny Gresham)

If you've never watched The Detectorists, Rev, This Country then they are all worth watching, ditto for earlier series of Taskmaster.

I would put it up there with The Wire and Sopranos, although content wise it doesn't have that much in common with either. It's far "dirtier" and almost bleak at times. Not a spoiler but the mob bosses have a crass sense of style in home decor, as everything is so real in the show wearing dark glasses inside makes perfect sense.

I don't speak Italian but I get the feeling it's very heavy on slang and dialect.
