I thought Barnsley were very good. So were we – and overall it was one of the best League One games I’ve seen with both teams going at it but still playing some excellent stuff at times.
Bit of poor defending for their first goal where Burns loses his bearings a little and loses his man a lot. But the excellent cross to the back post created that confusion. Their second was a ridiculously good goal and worth watching again for how their players’ movement took our defenders away and left Styles free. But then he absolutely planted his header.
Overall, we can’t be that upset that they scored two as they were worth that. And we had more chances but weren’t quite as sharp so only scored two of them. On top of which, their keeper made a great save with his feet from Ladapo’s bundled effort.
The players and McKenna need games like these. And we didn’t lose or concede points to Barnsley who will surely be a promotion rival. So all in all a step in the right direction.

I can’t see how based on that showing, and their general form and performances so far this season, Barnsley will be anywhere near a promotion rival. Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth, and Peterborough are all far superior, and MK Dons appear to be clicking into gear. It was two points stolen yesterday and a point conceded to them. |  | | |

They definitely didn’t look like a promotion chasing side to me. Maybe it’s flattery to us but they just came to sit back and hope to steal a goal on the break.
Tactics were cynical deliberate fouls, winding up Morsy, and plenty of time wasting. We were dominant for most of the game and what with Harness ‘goal’ and the penalty shout as well as KVY’s effort right at the end - feels very much like two points conceded to me. | | | |

To be honest I didn't really see what you saw. Barnsley had no real cohesion in open play and relied on two set pieces coughed up by us, they defended ok. A bang average team from my perspective, with the increasingy common time-wasting characteristic. We should have despatched them. Entertaining enough game though. | | | |

I thought they looked a good footballing team who will do well. And the following from Stuart Watson needs to be taken into account.

Indeed.
Also important to state that we’re a very good side off the ball and put a lot of effort into pressing and hassling. Which they did to us as well.
It was a proper contest from both sides with and without the ball. As the away side coming to the league leaders and coming from behind twice they deserve a lot more credit for earning a point than many people are giving them. | |

A typical Duff team. Organised and well drilled. Often sat 11 men behind the ball...clearly came for the draw.

I’d put them in the playoff hunt at least on yesterday’s evidence. They certainly looked a better all-round unit than any other team we’ve played. They also got back into the game twice when they had to push forward. | |

I don't think they ever really had to push forwards though, we either let them back in to it too soon through set pieces or gifted them their chances. Think they'll need a lot more chance creation to make the playoffs. Though Wycombe made the playoff final so ignore everything I've just said!. | | | |
